no, i didn’t change speeds on this project. but when i do other video edits, i usually speed up the video and still see this (when smart resampling was on). now, i’ll just disable the resample.

I think I got it figured out now. After dozens of re-rendering the same clip over and over with different settings. I was able to get it to not show the ghosting while in best mode.

I went to right click the clip, chose properties, I had Smart resample chosen by default, I changed this to Disable resample. Rendered and got rid of the ghosting artifacts.

    Life is good now!

    > I’m not sure but I would guess that draft quality doesn’t bother to blend the frames in the interest of speed. (just a wild guess on my part) 😉

I’ve just rendered about 10 different 3 second clips to compare different frame rate settings and quality, and it’s come down to what you said above. Vegas is blending the frames together. How can I tell Vegas to not blend frames without setting the quality down to draft or preview (just tested and preview doesn’t blend either)? I’ve gone to the project settings and tried to change the deinterlace mode from blend to interpolate and none, and I get the same problem.

    Another screenshot: https://productioneditors.com/blend.jpg
top 2 I used Best quality. The one on the right i went to the project settings and chose none for deinterlace mode. Still same issue.
Bottom 2 screen shots are choosing the draft and preview quality.
If you notice the guy’s leg running out to the right side, the top 2 have the blend trail and the bottom 2 do not.

I just want to set it to not blend frames, but be in Best quality mode. Any other suggestions?

I forgot to mention, yes, I’m rendering to 24.0 fps. I’m not rendering to 29.97fps or 30fps.

Thank you very much for responding John. When I open the source file in Quicktime, it says 23.98fps My Vegas project had the frame rate preset of 24.0 (Film). Should I change it to the other preset of 23.976 (IVTC Film) or just manually enter 23.98? Or does it even matter much since it’s basically 24 seconds?

Also unsure why it doesn’t do it when I render with the Draft quality and not the Best quality.

Yes, happens with all formats but I mostly render out to Quicktime DV, Quicktime Uncompressed or Main Concept MP4.
If I have multi-screens and have a single screen on the same timeline, once it goes to the single screen, it will come up fine.

So you do get full speed video and sound? No delays? Are you using 100mbit or 1gbit for your network.
