I like to build my rolls in After FX. you can put adjust the motion blur and render it as progressive for the more smoothing. It does get a little tricky if you need to edit/revise the roll though…

My apologies, I jumped to conclusions, but alas I only have a beta deck, so I assumed an output from one FCP to another thru SDI.I have to take the final QT on a drive to another post house for Digibeta SD delivery.

The problem in the right side window is the footage was scaled, before it was de-interlaced. You get the same with any video that has been manipulated without seperating fields. Ask first about the edit in london, whether they changed standards at all, or if it is only some shots, possibly those images were scaled as a progressive image, and not as interlaced.
You might find that if only some of the shots are like this it could be the 24P/24PA causing trouble, as that would match the cadence of 2:3 pulldown removal being applied incorrectly.

I guess what you’re telling me is that the best bet it to output and recapture my footage. I was hoping to avoid, but the more i read, the worse it seems. I will be making that a bug note to apple. I agree with your earlier post, 2:2:2:4 is fine for working, but rendering to 2:3 is a simple enough process.

The timeline we’ve built on is dvcpro HD 720 23.98. I can get access to a kona 3 card, but I need to format and deliver to a different facility, so I’d prefer to stay in house. I have a pair of Blackmagic cards, and I was thinking of recapturing the output thru SDI, but i’m sure there must be an all software solution. I mean i hope anyways.

I think it was around $500 for a 48 min show. To save some cash, we transcribed it first to a word document and they did all the behind the scenes magic.
If you final format is on DVD, ask them for an .SCC file, this will insert directly into DVDSP and save you the re-dig

Thanx Noah, but I had tried to do it with behaviors, and i quickly became a 100 layer mess.
i tried but it took 3 layers to zoom up, hold and zoom back for each picture (of 14)
plus 2 throws per pictureMaybe it’s just a learning curve thing, i hope
