Doesn’t playback begin stuttering once there’s 3 or 4
layers of video on the timeline? This review
https://www.trustedreviews.com/graphics/review/2006/07/21/Matrox-RT-X2-Realtime-HD-Video-Editing/p1
wasn’t the most complimentary, although admittedly is now
18 months old. Presumably the latest processors, RAM and
drivers compensate for X2’s shortcomings?D.

February 18, 2008 at 1:47 pm in reply to: How to get an audience of 10.000 to sing along with meLots of little ways to fake it with one voice, but you won’t be
satisfied with any of them unless you use more than one voice.
Five, six, seven people/voices will add texture and make it
more authentic sounding. You don’t even need them in the
room at the same time – grab a minidisc player (for example)
and something for playback and have a laugh getting your
friends to take turns singing a few lines. Just remember
to get them to do it at an arena-loud level. 🙂If this isn’t possible, do an online request and send
budding vocalists the mp3 clip to sing along to. You might
end up with hundreds to choose from?D.

You ‘burnt out’ your firewire port? What were you sending through
it – pure flames?I mean this mild-manneredly: If I’ve got £1000/$2000 to spend
on upgrading our CS3 suite to HD, why would I spend it on
Matrox as opposed to a shiny new Xena card? Especially
considering how well PPro CS3 performed/conformed during the
recent Arri D-20-shot flick ‘Captain Abu Raed’?

Sounds like you might need the help of the beta
testers and experts over at Adobe’s forums.
(I’d help you but I haven’t the ‘privilege’ of
installing the full CS3 suite yet. I have it here,
ready, just not the time to put our machines out
of action for a few days whilst it installs.)https://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.3bbe4d6a/
Good luck,

Have you installed the 3.1.1 update yet?
That’s said to fix a few critical bugs.D.

Bullet’s Premiere plugin suite would sort you problem out in
as long it takes to drag it from Effects and onto your
timeline.A little Photoshop methodology in After Effects – duplicate
clip, layer blend with Screen, add a smidge of gaussian
blur to top layer, tweak Levels, etc. – would also solve
your problem. If you want a ‘dreamy’ look but can’t (or won’t) use either
tools then you’ve got your work cut out. Doing a search for
‘free Premiere Pro plugins’ might help. You may stumble
across something ‘dreamy’ by accident.Alternatively, if there’s time, physically or digitally
send the clip to someone who would do the post for you.
I’m sure there’s plenty of folks here (myself included)
who would help you out, gratis. I’m in England, btw.Darren.

It’s crap irony (or sheer unbelievable value
for money) but £10/$10 stuff like Magix
Music have BPM adjustment tools which are the
best and easiest to use in the business. If I have to use Audition to re-BMP my prefered
method is Effects/Stretch/Ratio, and then some
slight adjustments within the mixer window; it’s
finicky as hell, but made easy by having a simple
drum beat generator: load up your desired BMP,
bang out a 4/4 beat and then record a few bars into
Audition to sync up to. I use Hammerhead and/or
Fruityloops, but there’s hundreds of free drum
loop generators out there.I refuse to use any version of Audition
above 1.5.1, so I’m uncertain if there’s been
more populist stuff (like BPM tools) added to
CS2 or 3.Darren.

After Effects has quite advanced pull-up and pull-down
abilities – and Magic Bullet Frames (AE plugin) is even
better. You need to be in the ‘After Effects Basics’
forum, or you could try – call me crazy – but you
could try opening After Effects’ help index and doing
a search for NTSC/PAL conversion.D.

There’s always a few tricks though, right, Willy?
I attended a fantastic workshop by Peter Howell from
the BBC Radiophonic Workshop a couple of years ago,
in which he revealed all the foley and tape looping (etc.)
secrets they were financially forced into innovating
due to the frugal ol’ Beeb back in the 60s/70s… Thunder
(for shows like Doctor Who) was created by striking a match,
slowing it down then adding lots of reverb. A lion’s roar
involved a toilet paper tube, of all things. For ‘movie voice’ slowing it down slightly – Effects/Time Pitch/
Stretch/Slower Tempo etc. – might help, along with some
fancy reverb.Alternatively, hire Don LaFontaine
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QPMvj_xejgThe other famous voice actor is a black guy with a weird name
– red snake, or something like that – but I can’t remember
it.D.

Download the new version of RealPlayer. It will allow you
to download .flv files – ie YouTube, Video CoPilot, Myspace, etc.
etc. – instantly. That’s right, there’s finally a reason to
use RealPlayer again.Once you’ve downloaded your .flv, use Flash or VLC Player
etc. to play it.http://www.realplayer.com
