Don’t understand your answer.
Can you put an HDSDI signal from a camera and audio from your
audio guy into a 1200 or 1400 and output firewire E to E in realtime
into a Macbook Pro running FCP in ‘capture now’ ?Won’t the 1200 or 1400 convert to DVCPROHD, and whatever
the size and frame rate it is that DVCPROHD like to spit out via firewire?Dan

Same thing happened to me a month ago.
All the new Boris stuff was installed but did not come up in FCP.
Forum said reinstall. Did. No fix.
On a lark, and I don’t know why I did this, I created a new user account.
Then logged in, opened FCP and lo and behold, there’s all the Boris stuff.
Logged out, when to my old account, still no Boris stuff.
So now I edit in a new account.Dan

If you have AVID money and you are looking at an FCP solution,
the reason you don’t go to FCP is because uprez does not work completely with FCP.
Until it does, people who want seemless offline to online, will not go with FCP.
Put all the color correction or XSan stuff you want to in there, but if it takes you
one hour or one day longer to get the job done with FCP over AVID, and you have the extra
$30,000 grand available, you will go with AVID. HEY, I’m the FCP guy in our shop
and that’s why I can’t get them to go all the way to FCP (me and quite a few others
in the higher end post houses).

So, you are using the multicam software as intended by making
multiclips, but then adding your specific audio needs. Very clever.Dan

Call me Curious…
what situation would you want four audio sources on a multicam shoot,
running at the same time? If you want to hear each camera, you can
select it in the viewer multiclip. Otherwise, in general, you pick your
audio and edit video to it. And you can always target more audio tracks
from your multiclip if you want. The point is, with FCP 5 and above
you have real mulitcam software in FCP. Stacking and syncing video tracks
is now something you only need to do for effects creation.

We just did this a few weeks ago and it worked fine.
The AVID editor was even able to make a batch list and
re capture all the material. But no titles etc. For that
you need The Duck.We used the CMX 3600 setting. The rest of the options
are pretty much up to your situation, with audio etc.
We did only one video track.dr

Yeah, you don’t put cameras on 4 different tracks anymore.
That’s SOO version 4.5 🙂FCP 5 and above does it like AVID, only a bit easier I think.

The system profiler says it has 256MB of VRAM.
It is the 2.33g unit, 15 inch display.If possible, you should take your projector to the Apple Store
and hook it up to one of the Macbook Pros to see what’s what.
Maybe there is some kind of issue with the projector.
Most projectors will accept VGA too. With the MBP you can
use an adaptor to change the output to VGA.

I just tried it on my new Macbook Pro Core 2 Duo 2.33g, bought two weeks ago.
It worked just fine. Here’s my setup:
20 inch DVI monitor connected to Macbook Pro.
FCP set to:
view-external video-all frames.
view-video playback-digital cinema desktop preview full screen.This was playing back an SD timeline.
Don’t do HD yet so can’t tell you if that will work.Dan
