You might also try a system restore to the last time it worked.

I’ve never done what you’re trying to do but if you have After Effects you might want to try it in there instead by using the time stretch and clicking the motion blur button on.

Sorry I couldn’t be more help.

When you say you can’t get it into premiere Pro do you mean it won’t capture at all? Or, you can capture but it won’t go into PPro?

One thing that screwd me up when I first started capturing HD in PPro was that when I set up a new project, I selected the proper HD settings I wanted on the 2nd “New Project Window”, but when naming the file in the 1st window I didn’t click the HDV dropdown option and it remained on SD.

So make sure when you have the capture window open that you go to the top right where there’s 2 tabs, one says logging and one says settings. Click settings and make sure it reads “Capture settings HDV”. if it says SD then click HDV.

If that’s not the problem maybe you can explain exactly what is says when you try to capture (if anything).

    Let us know…

I can only tell you what I do and I only capture with premiere pro (I love the size and quality of the mpeg 2’s). If the project is relativly small as many of mine are like 30 second commercial spots, I store all the captured Mpeg2 clips on a couple of dvd’s.

But if it’s a big project, say a short film or docu, I go buy an external hard drive that will fit the whole project clips and all on it and store it on that. With the price of hard drives being so cheap nowadays I beleive it’s what most people do with larger projects.

Of course many people are recording right to hardrives nowadays too and I imagin we all will be too in another 7 to 10 years.

    Hope this helps.

  • Wow, I get a little lag sometimes with my HD footage but my 720 SD footage renders and plays lighting fast. You’re graphics card is pobablly fine but how much ram are you running? That would more likely be the culprit. Also what are the formats of the clips you’re running? Avi, Mov, Mpeg???

    Hey Jose,

Yes, Mpeg is an option. After you’ve added your comp to the render que, click the word “Lossless” in the output module. Then another window will appear, at the top of the window it will say “Format” and should have a dropdown menu with several options to output including Mpeg.

Unless you have a real old version of AE, but I believe that CS3 and 4 have this option.

    good luck.

    Hey Dan,

Well not to make you feel bad but I would have never used the pink colered markers at all cause you probablly can’t even key them out without keying out the similar skintones as well (As I’m sure you are aware, hehe).

Sounds like Masks and rotoscoping is the only way to go unless you tried carefully keying out the pink.

Don’t feel bad, I’m sure your kicking yourself right now for going with that color or marker, haha. I’ve been there brother…

June 28, 2009 at 4:00 pm in reply to: Repeating clips.

    Hey Richie,

There’s two ways around this, one is an expression you can add to the clip that will make it loop as long as you want (Tutorial link below).

The other is, after you duplicate all those clips you have shown in your pic, you could select them all, click layer, Pre-compose, and Precompose all of them into one named clip. Then drag that clip into your project instead of all of them in your project.

    Hope that helps.

June 28, 2009 at 3:39 pm in reply to: Slow fade up is stepping with each frame?

Are you using a transition preset fade or are you keyframing the opacity of the clip from 0 to 100% over time? I would try the latter if you haven’t done so already. I’ve keyframed a fade up many times without the problem that you’re describing.
