Do your export from QT player.

i dont have flash here to try it out, but i know i ran in to similar issues when i upgraded to 8. are you sure you did it this exact same way with flash8 and it worked?

April 9, 2007 at 2:22 pm in reply to: Cross-dissolving animation?

if i understand right, you cant get a proper dissolve working?

if so, this is due to the way AE handles opacity, but the solution would be to set your layer mode for the 2 layers you want to cross dissolve to alpha add and have opacity key frames set for each, one from 0 to 100, the other from 100 to 0

    gotcha

if you want to bring it in to AFX, take the mov in QT and export it as a quicktime with a codec like animation.

i know QT could read swfs, but i dont think you can bring that in to AE ( though im not sure i ever tried it)

you used to be able to export as a quicktime movie from flash, where it was a real raster based quickime.
that you can bring in to AE, so maybe thats what you remember working…

April 7, 2007 at 5:32 pm in reply to: comp setting help!!

when you create a new comp choose the preset for NTSC DV Widescreen

this sets your compt to 720×480 and its pixel aspect ratio to 1.2 for anamorphic.

dont forget to figure in RAM when you compare the quad v octo machines as you really should have a minimum of 1gig of ram per core
