Try unchecking match project settings and under options preferences, theres a check box “enable no recompress long GOP rendering” Make sure that’s checked. FYI, if your just cutting and splicing, this option will not recompress video that has not been changed, like adding effects or resizing. If you change the video in any way other than length, it has to recompress it. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

Try setting Vegas’s audio device to Realtech HD audio and see if that helps.

It sounds llike your rendering to an uncompressed format. What format are the videos you’re using? Try rendering to the same format and you’ll get the results you were expecting.

What kind of HD are you rendering that causes that error? If that’s a duo core, then it may barely be able to render HDV. If it’s AVCHD, then you probably can’t, or would not like how sluggish it would be. Cineform NeoScene is a lossless format that is not compressed as nuch as HDV and AVCHD and is way easier on your CPU to work with.
It’s $129.99, that could go towards a faster PC which is really what you need when working with HD. You can download a trial and see if it helps with your “Low memory” issue. Also make sure everything else that is running is shut down, virus prot, disable your internet if you use it on that machine, screen saver. Check your system configuration utility and see whats running each time it boots up.You ay be suprised how much stuff runs in the background. Hope this helps, Danny Hays -
wmv files can be rendered with surround sound as well as a few others. For surround sound dvds, they need an .ac3 file muxed with the dvd compliant mpg to get 5.1 audio.

Changing the screen resolution usually brings hidden windows back on the screen, then set it back. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

You are rendering the audio as an .ac3 file aren’t you?

Click the little dots in the upper left hand of the pluggin and drag it away from the dock. Most windows will dock them selves when dragged close to it. Any other tab with the dots can be dragged to full screen as well. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

Look for the .bak file with the same name as the .veg that opened with Vegas 9. Right click on it and open with Vegas 9. These are backup files just for this type of problem. I always save my projects with a new name before opening and saveing in a new version of Vegas. That way I still have the old .veg if I need to open it in 9 for some reason. Isn’t there a lock icon at the bottom of the event pan and crop window? This should lock the timeline curser to the pan and crop window’s curser. Maybe the lock feature only works on track effects. I don’t have Vegas in front of me right now.
