You can normalize the audio right in Vegas. Right click the vav, switches, normalize.

Wow. I stand corrected. I have always used event pan crop to select a smaller area of an event, like a 4k event in a 1080 project where i can select 1/4 of the image, use keyframes to move that fourth to different areas of the 4k event and it will be 1920 x 1080. I have never tried making the cropping area larger than the event and move it on the canvas. Thanks for the information. 🙂

If you copy events from one Vegas project to another, you lose any effects or cropping you may have on the original event. If you want to render a video to use instead of nesting, uncompressed avi will not have any quality loss but will be huge in size and very hard to edit in Vegas. I would download Go-pro Studio. It will add the Cineform codec to your system and will show up in render as / AVI/Cineform .avi
This is a lossless format and edits very easy in Vegas and is nowhere near the size of an uncompressed avi. Hope this helps. DannyDanny Hays

(When I try to pan/crop images to move them, they get cut off. )
Event pan and crop cannot be used to move the event on the canvas. Use the track motion for the track the cropped event is on. DannyDanny Hays

If it doesn’t do it with a new project, that means Vegas is ok, your project is where the problem is. Try muting all your media generated text tracks and add a new video track with new text and see if the problem is still there. I’m betting it’s not. Text is track specific and cannot be added to the whole project. If the new text track is fine, mute one of the other text tracks one at a time until you find which one is causing this. If this works, delete this track and remake it. Let us know if this helps. Danny

Hi Don. I use Media Express. It comes with the video Desktop software download from Blackmagic. There’s also a control panel program where you select which input to use during capture. Also the capture settings and the video you’re inputting have to be exactly the same. Media Express allows me to capture in Motion jpeg which works on my 7200 rpm hard drives, 8 and 10 bit avi which only works on my identical Sony Vaio laptop that I put a solid state drive in and my Microsoft Surface pro, which is also solid state. The drive I/O speed is very important with a Shuttle. I can also capture with Sony VidCap 6.0.exe which is a separate program than vegas but it only shows the 8 and 10 bit avi settings. There is support for Premiere as well but I have not tried it. The Shuttle is powered off the USB3 connection and has no external power connection. Be advised that when I first bought the Shuttle, it was very specific on the chipset on the motherboard. Back then it required an x58 or p55 chipset so I built a desktop computer with a motherboard with that x58 chipset in it. That was about 7 years ago. Since then I found it works with my semi newer Sony vaio laptops and my Surface Pro. I would do some research to see if your computer is compatible before buying one. The Cow has a Blackmagic forum that may help. Also I found another forum where someone has a list of motherboard chipsets that work with some BM hardware here.

There are a lot of pissed off people that can’t get one to work with any machine. I guess I’m lucky to have four that work with it. The quality of the 8 and 10 bit avi is stunning I have to admit but the file sizes are huge. If you can find someone who has one you could test with is your safest bet. DannyDanny Hays

I use the same USB3 Shuttle and had to update my usb3 drivers to Renesas Electronic USB 3.0
You can find the drivers here. https://plugable.com/drivers/renesas

Does it only happen with that project you’re working on? Have you made a new project with just one Sony generated media text and edit the “Sample text”? If so, try resetting Vegas by holding down the Ctrl and shift while launching Vegas and click yes when prompted if you want to reset.

You can also hold the Ctrl and Shift keys down through the whole launching of Vegas to reset it to default. You will get an option to reset to factory during this process.

I have uploaded 1080 60fps to YouTube and got great results. I have not tried uploading any 1080 120fps from my GoPro yet. If you do, please post a link to it here so I can see your results. Danny
