If the required drive IO bandwidth is for the uncompressed formats, Why don’t you have a version of media Express that only captures as the MJPEG format, and allow it to install on a machine with less bandwidth, like my laptop with a PCI express slot adapter? I believe the bandwith for this is lower than HDV and DV. 13 mbps MJPEG vs 25 mbps HDV and DV. Danny Hays Universal Orlando Show Systems Dept. -

But the firmware download just downloads the same file as the software link. They have just recently changed the file you get. I got an earlier one that extracted 2 folders, 32 and 64. There’s a firmware .bat, Batch file in both folders, depending weather your running 32 or 64 bit that will update the firmware. With Windows 7, make sure you run as administrator.
You need to do this before installing any of the Blackmagin software.
I have it running on a 32 bit I7 machine with an Asus P6x58D premium board at work. I’ll try in at home with 64 bit and same M.B. in the next few days at home. I’ll keep you posted, Danny Hays -
IAfter you add the clips in the time line, they will show up in your project media tab. click on one and just below it at the bottom of that window, it tells you the properties of that clip. You can also use G-Spot, a free utility that will tell you everything you need to know about that clip. Just open G-Spot and drag a clip on it. Here’s a ling to G-Spot. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

It can, in a since. When you click save as, check the copy media with project at the bottom left. then a window opens allowing you to only save created trimmed copies of source media. default is 2 seconds on ech clip at the beginning and end in case you wanted to add a little later, but you could set it to zero and get what your asking for. This also leaves you original clips at their full length, in their original location. It makes copies of what you used in your sessions. Hope this helps,

Does your mother board have the x58 or p55 chipset? are you capturing to MJPEG? You need a raid array to capture uncompressed 10 bit. There is a software and firmware update neeeded for the NEC USB 3 chipset too. I just got one of the Shuttles today and can capture 1080i MJPEG to a secondary internal sata 7200 drive without any problems. That was with a SD composite signal, set to upconvert to 1080i though. This is at work, mine should arrive at home tomorrow and I’ll try capturing from my HDV imager VIA component. I’ll post my results when I get a chance. Danny Hays, Sony Vegas Forum Leader.

What your saying will work, to a degree, the angle will still be the same though, still better that static shots. You could take sections where you cant see people singing, so sync isn’t relevent, that you could slow down some good motion shots to piece in to make it more exciting. Effects on some small clips here and there can help too, just don’t over do it. I would stay away from transitions. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

I would try reversing the phase on one of the tracks, zoom in and make sure the talent audio is in perfect sync, sound is slow and mic distance will make a difference. You maybe able to cancel out some of the talent this way. Hope this helps, Danny Hays

Wow, that’s alot to explain. On the video you want “squished” I gather you mean rotated, like your looking at it from an angle,to the right of the slider on the left of the video, you’ll see 2 small green blocks, one has an “a” in it. Click it and set it to 3D source alpha. Now to the upper left on that same track you’ll see “Track motion”. Now you can rotated the video as if it’s in 3D space. You can also shrink it down here and add keyframes to have it fly in, then back out. Read up on keyframes in the help file. It’s pretty simple. As far as making the growing plant effect, I don’t believe you can do that in Vegas. But there’s a company that makes royalty free animations that may have what your looking for. Here’s the link.

Vegas is a non-distructive NLE, as most are now days. Just saving will save the project, so you can open it again just how you left it.
What you can do is select the part you want, (yellow loop points at top of time line) Render as 720P or 1080i, which ever your m2t files are and make sure to check “render looped region only”, but first under options, preferences, theres an option to check “Enable no-recompress long_GOP rendering”. Make sure this is checked. Then it will not re-render the video as long as you didn’t add any effects, Just shorten it to the loop points you set. Hope this helps, Danny Hays -
Try setting your project settings to 720P, Progressive, Interpolate and then render to 720P Progressive. You can increase the bitrate for both audio and the video if you see the quality is degraded. Hope this helps, Danny Hays
