Could be done but its quite complex. CDL is very limiting and would not give you enough control for a heavy client attended grade session and sending lut’s back and forward has the same issue of being limited to no windows etc…
What I do is grade everything as normal, render out the clips in source mode. Flame guys conform it from XML/AAF but use my graded renders instead of source clips. They also soft link to my renders so if I do change anything the changes automatically flow through the pipeline thanks to the soft link.

How about using a layer mixer in this lay out?
serial w/blur -> serial w/blur -> serial w/blur ->layer mixer
clean image->not a great diagram but it should show the best way for you to blur the image 3 times, then track the clean image and use a window and track the face to reveal down to the heavily blur inside the window only.
Should save you a little time.

Most LUTs used for look presets are 3d luts. I don’t see anything special about their looks at all to be honest just a lot of marketing and some basic grades.

October 1, 2012 at 9:12 pm in reply to: Flares first or grading first? (workflow question)Best way to do it is do a rough flares pass first with them in roughly the right place and intensity.
Render on black
Put them on v2 in resolve and use add blending mode
Grade away happily
Turn off the flares and render
Go back to AE and refine.
Works a treat and I used this workflow on the intro for this show : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSM0v12c-64

September 28, 2012 at 7:57 am in reply to: DV 9 GUI is highly saturated. Is the DIY and mobile market changing Davinci?I worked on Resolve 9 for 16 hours straight yesterday and I honestly don’t find it distracting at all.
Also if you want to duplicate a timeline all you need to do is.
Make new Empty Sequence
Copy Paste the clips from one to another
If you want to break the links to the other timeline then click copy remote grades to local or what ever its called nowDone!

Hey Dave, One of our panels here was probably the first or second BMD Control Surface to ship here in Europe a year or two ago and its still working perfectly. I would give davincihelp@blackmagicdesign.com a shout and see if they have any ideas. The engineers there are awesome and figuring out what may be up.

Dont get me started on these monitors!
I can confirm that the banding in motion is present on all 3 65″ Panny Plasma’s I had in my suite this week!!
On the new vx300 65 we had bought the banding doesn’t go away when stopped so I wouldn’t recomend using that monitor. We just sent ours back to Panasonic, replaced it with an older model and it’s a lot better.
I live in 50hz land too.

Sorry my brain isn’t working and didn’t read your post right!
I’ll have a look tomorrow as I’ve used that a few times myself and would be cool if it still worked!
