Thanks for the info on closed captions.
I have a video that is pretty standard – HD 16:9.
Do you know which style I should use? Font? Color? Size?
Also, there does not seem to be any way to put a black border or “ghost box” around the CC’s in Davinci. Is that true?

seems to be saying I need a ghost box, and also that my srt files should be
“Arial Narrow Latin 45A 1080, with the ghost box and no outline. ”
How do I create a “ghost box?”

I imported some clips and added some markers and did some minor editing and logging – then I renamed the original clips. (The renamed clips just have time and date stamped on them, so I know which clips they correspond to in the media bin, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to re-link them one by one as I could do in FCP7, though I can “Conform lock” them if they are in the timeline – is that correct? Thanks.

Actually, no, it was a BetaSP dub (of the original DV tape which was lost) that was digitized to prores. The specs look like this when I open it in QT Player:

It is just an SD NTSC Prores422 clip from a miniDV original from around 1997.

Thanks for being so generous with your time and explaining this to me.
So clearly I will have to create two separate projects and separate video archives.
I wonder if the Photoshop layered menus can be the same for both projects?
If I create a menu scaled for HD will Encore accept them for a DVD project and scale them properly?THANKS!
