Well, no, because this is after I export a QuickTime from avid with “Same as source” selected. Then when I compare avid’s QuickTime with after effects QuickTime–that’s where I see the big difference in resolution.

Also I should clarify that I’m bringing the after effects animated logo into a avid.

Still no solution to this annoying, but not debilitating, problem.

Any ideas what could fix it?

Again, the rollers work if I push them with the mouse, but the formerly-reliable keystrokes don’t budget them. Or anything else, for that matter.

    Thanks again for any help!

    Hi Michael,

I’m going to assume that’s not the issue since it happens on ALL of my trims and even when I want to nudge a whole clip over in the timeline using the red/over-write tool.

Any thoughts on how to fix it?

    Thanks, Dan

    Ok…I *Might* have fixed it.
I seem to remember a similar problem from having “illegal” characters on files on the desktop.

I removed the “( )” characters from a file on my desktop, and so far, so good.

    Hi Dave,

I do need the camera (as far as I can tell) in order to dolly in and out of the foreground and background, as well as pan over to different elements and areas of the illustrator image to tell the story.

Tried adjusting the z value of the ice cream higher and lower than the cart. It zooms in an out but doesn’t go behind the cart. If I have to I can do a workaround, but I still can’t figure out why all the other items go behind the cart properly. Z value on all of the items is 0.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks for your help.

Thanks to all for the generous words of wisdom.
Needless to say, I am keeping my camera original files!

    Hi Michael,

Thanks so much for your helpful reply.
Yes, I have everything backed up on 3 disks (one mirror RAID and one separate drive).
It would be great if I could just backup the MXF files to the three drives, rather than camera media AND MXF. And it sounds like there’s really no advantage to saving the camera files, as long as I have sufficiently taken care of the MXF files. And my druthers would be to use the mxf files as my 3rd backup.

If something went wrong with the other two drives, it would be infinitely easier for me to relink the MXF files, rather than deal with the nightmare of batch reimporting and relinking the other media, which are not part of my timelines. Don’t you think?

But one last question (before I do the scary deleting thing).
If I want to color correct in Da Vinci at the finishing stage, will the MXF files work fine in that process and round tripping?

    Thanks again,

    Dan
