Thanks everyone for giving your input. I have taken in everything you have provided and now my AD and I have a lot of tests to do. We actually did a simulated set up using my Jeep with the rear hatch open and green screened the wind shield. Not bad. With camera shake and fans blowing crap around we are getting closer.

Scott to answer your question, the actual plane lost it’s left wing and engine flipped left (facing forward) stayed at 180 degrees as it came down and clipped the top of some trees before hitting a lake and sinking.

The plane was a twin engine Howard 500 being used as a dope plane. It crashed into Upper Merced Pass Lake in 1976 while in route to Nevada to drop off a load. No witnesses but photos of the crash site and what was left of the plane. Pilot and Co-Pilot DOA. We have a look a like PV2 Harpoon for the film and will be shooting footage of the tree tops skimming the plane. That will be used when we green screen the planes windows just before the engine tears off. Then using a cable system to fly a camera through trees hitting them for the plane descending into the forest.

But as one of the other posters commented, it will be quick short shots to the viewer will not have time to over analyze the shot. If any of you still have ideas or comments I am all ears.

Thanks again to all for the help.

HDV…go figure. I was capturing with a KONA LHi but it has issues with multicam, and I have a matrox mini but it has issues with audio using PP CS5. Where is my commodore 64 when I need it. Thanks

Well I just got some more disturbing news. Apparently my AJA Kona LHi card also is not compatible with the multi cam feature in Adobe CS5.5. Tech Support confirmed this for me. And the Matrox MX02 mini has issues with CS5 when you select their audio preset in preferences.

Is there any capture card out there that runs correctly with CS5.5 for MAC? You know…I use to hate my Commodore 64, but at least it worked. Slloooowwwwly but it worked.

Normally I would say that it was my fault for not checking first, but what do you do, go down the list of each feature of your software while on the phone with sales, asking if there are any issues here or there? Nothing in their literature gave me a clue, and no one at AJA said oh it’s a great card but…

I love AJA! Their tech support is great, their products are robust and worth the bucks, I just wish I had been given a clue.

Can we get some feed back as to what others are using to capture HD, that works without any of the “oh yeah it’s not quite compatible with that feature” response. Just curious.

Wait, I just re-read your post. You’ve always wanted to support it? AJA does, Matrox does, you guys build big systems. What is the issue here? Why do I keep finding the same problem. Your advertising says you support a software program but then I discover you only support 2/3’s of the program. Ok, ok I’m done. Off my soapbox. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.

Ok…fine….then put an asterisk next to the statement Premiere Pro CS5.5 that reads “Multi cam feature not supported”. Done! Was that hard?

November 29, 2010 at 6:34 pm in reply to: changing the “compression data rate”

I know this is an older thread but I’m hoping someone will see and reply. I too am getting dropped frames however it is only on an After Effects project that is rendered and imported into FCP 6. I have a Dual core 2.66 with a RAID (4 hard drive) SATA system and 12 Gigs of memory. I’ve dumped my preferences but that was not the answer. My hard drives are showing Capacity of 1.82 TB with 1.19 available and 647 GB used.

The AE clip is 25 seconds long and I was also interested in seeing about whether Lowering the compression data rate would be the answer. I’ve closed the open sequences, there is no audio track, RT is set to playback settings. Im not quite sure where to find Unlimited RT so that is another question. Any thoughts? Thanks

No not yet. PE tech support was asked about 3 cameras with 2 tapes each. They responded by saying it could be done but send them the data file so they could look at it. I thought it was explained pretty well. Just to much hassle. I still use it but I’m not doing cart wheels over it. I have to sync up the cameras on 2 sequences and then bring them into a 3rd. Everyone tells me that what I want cannot be done by any software. Well CS5 can and so could CS4 and now that Kona AJA has the drivers for my LHi card with CS5 I think it’s time to mossy on over to CS5 from FCP. Hey it’s just money. Not like its any good when you get to editor hell.

Well as I was here typing this, PE was syncing a 3 camera shoot based on markers and opps it was done wrong (that has to be my fault however). Very frustrating but I know the editor gods will bring me the answer soon. Good luck to you. Hope you find you way to the enlightened land.

Thanks Chris, yeah I think things are all screwed up with this project. Any adjusting of the audio causes it to have to be rendered again and again. Normally I can hear the audio with the render warning beep but not now. I can only hear it if I render or scub the time line. Arrrrrr

One other thing with this audio issue. I read in another thread that my sequence settings should match my clip settings. My sequence shows the Audio Format at 32-bit floating point but my clips are at 24-bit integer, does this matter, could this be the issue, if so how where are they located to reset…if they can.
