June 26, 2021 at 2:06 pm in reply to: Newb inquiry – apply continuous material to compound curvesFor anyone else with a similar problem, know that exporting from a Cad program into C4D can be done using the .STEP file format to work around this particular problem.

Well, I just tested all the Spline Mask modes and none of them allow the appearance of the horizontal member to pass over and hide the vertical members intersecting bit so I suppose Spline Mask is not the answer either.
Here’s what I’m after, which I have to do very tediously in Viacad, cleaning up one intersection at a time, after generating the optimal spacing in the wonderful C4D:
Any ideas on how to have C4D create the ‘cleaned up’ intersections would be very welcome indeed!
The export from C4D needs to be in splines, which appears to be the catch.

I have another question. After seeing how easy it actually was to replace objects I boiled my CAD needs down further and used splines in place of cubes or planes.
That worked well but the intersections of the lines I would like removed to show the horizontal lines continuous and the vertical lines broken by the horizontal.I read up on Spline Mask but it appears it will not work with Cloner objects.
Is there a workaround to use the Spline Mask in this situation?

Thanks for taking a look!

Oh man. I really over-complicated that on my end, editing formulas, etc…
Thanks a million Adam!!

Here’s a link to the latest version which adds a HUD and ties the widths of the slats in the X and Y axes together. It’d be rare indeed when they would need to be different from each other.

I can’t thank you enough for your help with this. It works beautifully and the transform formula is an eye opener. I was certain I had to include the first space (or P. X) in the formula for some reason.
To get the cloner back to zero, entering zero in the coordinate manager was all it took? This may seem a silly question but I only have a handful of hours logged in C4D.

June 4, 2006 at 6:06 pm in reply to: Net Render Problem: Different Version of Client and ServerYour not after the files/folders, just the exe’s. My comment was to heed the 9.6 update instructions by verifying that the client/server (exe’s) are actually in the folder where the update is applied. I missed that on the first run. Moved the exes into the proper path (9.5 files) and reran the update. Bingo.

June 1, 2006 at 1:41 am in reply to: Net Render Problem: Different Version of Client and ServerA couple things to check. I’m just guessing here, but 9.6 update may only work on 9.5 files. Also, I simply dragged a copy of the client/server .exe files into the latest version folder and reran the update and that worked for me. It does warn you upon installation that you must select the folder where the client/server files are stored. I simply copied them from a previous version folder. Hack perhaps, but did the trick.

Not sure if this is exactly what you need, but try going into preferences (general) and checking reverse camera rotation.

Type, price quote should read 18.30 USD.
