September 22, 2005 at 5:06 pm in reply to: Building new computer – please post your specs.thank you, but I know all about Final Cut, Avid, Pinacal Liquid, Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere, Avid|DS ect.
I’m not having editing tool on my comp for other editors to say “Well, I only edit Final Cut”. I have my tools so I can maintain a project from shooting – through editing – to post production. And for that I am in sync. You know AAF?!
You know – in my country – people don’t care what tool you use. They care about getteing the result fast, cheap and with a very very very high end feel to it (they must be crazy!) – But never the less I havn’t met a director yet turning me down because my tool was of another shape or color than he/she was used to.
As long as my pipeline is all right I’m very much in sync with the idustry.
What I really wan’t is a new computer and I need help with the specs.
Thank you. 😉

You should export your OMF with the consolidate option. With that one you should be able to define the handle length.
I did i t yesterday And it can be done. But right now I’m not with my avid so I can’t verify my answer. I might remember wrong. -
Thanx. I’ve got it.
But is there anyway that I can assign the “Crtl [” and the “Crtl ]” to the up and down arrow??Daniel

I had to do the TC superimposing today so I ended up using AE, but thank you anyway. Another problem with using after FX is, that it as such doesn’t suport 24bit audio. Damn. I had to render out the TC and either export the audio to use with AE or import the TC footage in premiere. What a logistic day this has been.

Allright. Thank you.
I’ll render out a Timecode from after fx, then.

It depends on the stage of production.
Do you want to finish HD-Projects on your computer, are you onlining 2K material, or do you stop at editing in DV-resolution.Anyway – I would look at Deck-link capture-cards, somekind of RAID hardisk setup, at least 2-monitors, and a nice cool looking silk-and-womanskin-like- type of mouse.

I had the same problem and had to meet a deadline and did not know of Automatic Duck new release.
I worked around the problem by using a Avid DV express. So if you know anyone with an Avid DV Express (or any other avid) export your sequence from Adobe Premiere Pro with AAF.
Import it into the avid. Batch Link the footage and audio files. Export from avid using OMF 2.0
I know it is a ceazy workaround but if you have to do it and again I did this before Automatic Ducks OMF export plug.

Yes I know, but unfortunaly I don’t own a computer with PCI-xpress ports. And I can’t afford right now, to upgrade my computer.
Therefor I was more interested in your view on the converted DVI to Componet issue and about using a converted VGA signal for colorgrading.
But thank you anyway.

That was what I wanted.
I managed to make a hole tape into subclips by copying them before I read your first reply to my post.
As I understand I have to delete them and make them again by dragging from the source monitor into the project window to avoid
duplicating adio canversions.Fortunaly the weekend is soon upon us.
Thank you so much.D.
