I don´t know if gearmaster will change any informations from your previous selected region 5, but if not you need to set the same region-code for your DDP, otherwise they will be different and the replication will be refused again, because the header of your DVD will missmatch.

hey ray,
the main problem is, that 25/50fps are only mandatory for coutries that produce/broadcast in 25/50fps by BD-spec.

if you try watching BDs with 25/50fps in the rest of the world it wouldn´t work or you might be lucky to see something – but in most cases I wont be played by the BD-player and you´ll get an error-message.

have you set any region-codes on your gear-master-DDP-master?

if you´ve created an ISO-disc-image the region-code is region-free by spec, and if you created a specific region-code for the master, they will be different – this is a violation against the DVD-specs.

so the better choice will be to create a DVD-disc-folder instead of creating an ISO and to create the DDP-image from the folder.

hi again,
with director you can programm a selfcontained application for PC AND MAC.

that´s the big advantage from director for DVD-ROM-stuff.

to use 720p-m4v-quicktime-films is no good idea, because most users haven´t got administration-rights to install anything on their computers.

if you go director you need to transcode all video-files into SWF.

720p will look good at a data-rate from about 2.5Mbit-5Mbit.

hi daniel,
I would suggest do create a DVD-ROM, not a VIDEO-DVD.

if these disc will only be played on computers you can choose to go HTML or maybe to start programming it with DIRECTOR.

on computers it doesn´t matter if you´re using PAL or NTSC-frame-rates, but if you need to create a VIDEO-DVD for international distribution you need to go NTSC. PAL-DVDs wont be played on NTSC-players but the other way arround will work.

it will be a good choice to create the video-files 2 times!

1.) mpeg4-files for mac-users
2.) wmv-files for pc-users

as most pc-users haven´t installed quicktime or itunes and most mac-users haven´t installed the wmv-playback-plugin for quicktime.

if you decide to create a DVD-ROM based on HTML you can choose FLV, too.

but be awared: a lot PCs have trouble with WMV-HD or FLV as they are real resource-consuming

Internet-Connections from DVD haven´t worked perfect at any time and encore can´t do it.

even encore CS5 can´t do this.

if you would like to have an internet-connection you need to concentrate on DVD-ROM-programming with director or maybe in HTML.

even encore CS4 or CS5 on mac is a mess. but I would suggest to update to CS5. there are a lot bugfixes within encore CS5 and you can create multi-layer-menus for blu-ray.

DV-pal is a bad choice, because it´s the worst picture-quality-setting. you should have selected uncompressed PAL, pro res HQ or maybe DVCPRO50.

DV-pal has a significant compression and quality-loose on the picture.

if you want to have a good picture on your DVD, you might use adobe encoder and create your own setting.

and be awared of field-dominance of video (upper/lower)! take care of it!!

and to your last point:
computer-screens have a much higher resolution than PAL, so the picture will be upscalled – the picture wont be better!
