you´re talking about differnt things.

1.) I guess your FCP seams to be messed up.

normally it doesn´t matters on which exteral drive your FCP-project has been saved, it should work everywhere.

which version FCP do you use and which os do you have?

2.) “this project is formatted for windows so can’t be opened on your mac” is another ugly bug from encore, it used to be fixed within encore CS5. even pc-projects could be opened on mac and vice-verca.

3.) why you used m2v instead of h264? h264 have a better picture-quality with lower bitrate.

finally: encore CS3 is horrible, CS4 is a big mess, even encore CS5 but it´s a lot better and have a lot improovements and bugfixes.

did you use the bluray-setting within compressor? or something else?

you haven´t mention the frame-rate of your video. is it MPEG2HD or is it H264?

any menus on the BD?

you´ve chosen the wrong setting!

you need to transcode to bluray h264, not quicktime h264.

the necessary setting will only be found within compressor that comes with FCP7.

prior versions haven´t got the specific setting for bluray.

another possibility is to use adobe media encoder that comes with creative suite CS4 or CS5.

if they have arcsoft player installed on the PCs they can easiely watch the BD (its called Blu-ray not Blue-ray) from the BD-folders.

there is no player-solution for mac-computers at the moment!

you need to copy the entired folder that contains the BDMV-folder and the certificate-folder.

hi götz,
quicktime h264 is h264 in a quikcitme-wrapper to play it back in quicktime, but it has nothing to do with BD-complient streams.

BD-streams are elementary streams not streams with audio and video in one file.

you can encode the required files using compressor 3.5 that comes with FCP7. it has a specific BD-setup, but I would advice to use adobe media encoder that comes with CS4, because it´s creating a better output. it´s using the mainconcept-engine that is very good.

I know there are a lot problems with encore CS4, it´s a bit better with encore CS5.

these problems are on both systems (PC+MAC) because the programm itself is badly programmed with a lot compromises.

I´m a mac-user and I´ve seen a lot errors and bugs in it.

hi mike,
first of all I wonder, why you´re going m2v instead of h264, as it has the same picture-quality at a lower bitrate.

I would suspect a corrupt m2v-file, even if it would be played fine within VLC-player, but if media-encoder woulnd´t import it with an error, there would be something strange with the file itself, because adobe media encoder will import m2v-files normally.

I asked myself as well why you´ve exported m2v out of premiere instead of a mov-file and transcode it with adobe media encoder.

hi jose,
some dvd-player do this and they do the same at the end on the last chapter as well and jump into the next VTS.

this is a missbehave of some DVD-player (mostly cheap ones) and a behave against DVD-specs.

workarround:
all you can do is to disable the specific user-operation on the first and last chapter and to insert 1 1/2-2sek. slug. set this chapter on the start of it, as it´s not allowed to have a chapter later than 1 1/2 sec. before the ending of your MPEG.

same things will happen with scan forward/back, so disable both (skip + search).
