I´m sure this wont be a problem with bitrates. If you need to go below 15MBit that´s a very low quality level.

if adobe haven´t failed to programm encore much more solid proofed there wouldn´t be so much (error-code-) problems with it.

and finally you can have subtitle-files to be closer than 5sec. within BD-spec. larry applegate allready described in another thread how this will be done within the professional authoring-apps, but the implementation of BD-subtitles within encore is poor as well.

encore could only create 2-bit-styled subtitles (according to DVD-spec), but blu-ray could have 8bit+alpha, there are a lot more possibilities.

if you feel like better getting on a new train, you might try DVD Logic EasyBD.

he´s talking about 29.98ND (non dropped) – it will be declared as progressive output.

there will be a progressive sequenz-flag in it, so it´ll displayed as progressive instead of interlaced.

if it´s MXF, you need to buy MXF4MAC or maybe you can handle it with the calibrated plugin, so you can import nativ mxf-files to FCP.

very important is the field-dominanz!

NTSC is allways lower first, PAL is allways upper first (excepted ALL DV-derivates, like DV, DVCPRO25, DVCPRO50, but DVCPRO HD is upper field again, like all HD-files.

what is your source?

29.98i or 24p? – if you need to go PAL, you need to use compressor frame control, and also do some scaling, as PAL is 720×576.

and there could be one of your biggest problem, if you do a scale into your NTSC-material to go PAL you might get in trouble with your single scan-lines, so you might better choose to export 25p – just a thought.

I allways need to go the other way round PAL>NTSC, as I´m living in germany.

that´s what I expected would be you answer jon, but isn´t it a pitty!? you are creating H264-project-settings, but encore is doing it´s own way to go h264!

I´m very happy that I don´t need to rely on encore and all it´s obstacles.

you´re right in some circumstances – I forgot the specific transcoding-settings for the assets.

but have you ever been able to create a motion-menu that has been transcoded to h264?

as far as I figured out – menus allways be transcoded to MPEG2HD, please correct me when I´m wrong.

I´ve seen such error as well and it´s mostly a data-tranfer-error in any case. I´ve been working hard with larry to figure out where it could come from and there are several possibilities.

1.) encore-muxing-error
2.) general data-transfer-problems

I would hardly recommend to use NTFS-harddrives to send your premaster to the replication or as BDCMF on BD-R.

it needs to be fully formatted (no quick-format) and you should use the latest paragon ntfs4mac.

is there a reason why you are using MPEG1 instead of MPEG2? I would go MPEG2 because of better picture-quality.

it´s a common workflow within DVD-authoring to encode your assets prior starting the authoring.

there are several encoder, if you don´t like adobe media encoder.

Oi Trine,
blu-ray specs are PCM multi-chanel-files as well besides DTS HD and dolby true HD.

you can create BDs with it using DVDitHD, sonic scenarist BD, sony bluprint, netblender dostudio or dvd logic EasyBD.

the cheapest option is EasyBD, followed by DVDitHD, dostudio and the high-end-apps scenarist or bluprint.

I would advice to use EasyBD or DVDitHD.
