  • Blu Ray replication (rejected)

Posted by Erin Bohn on April 4, 2011 at 3:47 pm

    Hello,

We are attempting to send a blu ray made in Encore to replication. We used BluStreak Premaster. The disc was rejected and we got the message pasted below. Does anyone have any idea what any of this means and what could have caused it or how we could fix it? Thanks!!

    Incorrect CHT Header
This Blu-ray error indicates that there is a problem with the starting hash unit number, the hash unit offset, the clip number, or the number of hash entries on the layer. This information is recorded in the AACS Content Hash Table Headers.

    Background
For each physical layer of BD-ROM, the Content Hash Table (CHT) is stored in the “AACS” directory and in the “AACSDUPLICATE” directory. A single-layer disc has a single file named “ContentHash000.tbl”, while a dual-layer disc has two files names “ContentHash000.tbl” for Layer 0 and “ContentHash001.tbl” for Layer 1. The Layer 0 and Layer 1 hash tables each need to be stored on the respective physical layer.

The Content Hash Table contains a hash value for each hash unit of the Clip AV Stream file in the corresponding layer, along with header information, and must be formatted according to the specification. The Eclipse tools report any inconsistencies between the Content Hash Table headers and the data contained on the media. This information is also used to create and validate the Content Certificate.

Additional Info: The specific header in the CHT that is in error will be reported in the additional information column.

Layer [layer no] clip [clip no.] Field: Starting_HU_Num actual ([actual no of hash units]), expected ([expected])

Layer [layer no] clip [clip no.] Field: HU_Offset_in_Clip actual ([actual hash unit offset in clip]), expected ([expected])

Layer [layer no] Field: Clip_Num actual ([actual clip no.]), expected ([expected])

Layer [layer no] Image clip [clip no.] number of hash entries actual ([actual no. of hash entries]), expected ([expected])

[Possible] Cause
This error could be caused by incorrect CHT generation at authoring or by an AACS encryption problem.

    Severity
This is a serious error indicating problems with the AACS encryption and is known to cause playability failures.

    Other CHT related rules:

Incorrect CHT Header will be triggered when one of the headers in the CHT table is incorrect.

Incorrect CHT Size will be triggered when the allocated size of the CHT does not match the size required for the CHT.

Incorrect CHT Value will be triggered when the hash calculation for a clip does not match the Content Hash Table.

    Reference:

    AACS Spec BD Prerecorded v0.912

    Section 2.3.1

Rule ID: 885

You need to contact Larry. Bd replication is a tricky thing even for the studios

    Erin,
I´ve seen such error as well and it´s mostly a data-tranfer-error in any case. I´ve been working hard with larry to figure out where it could come from and there are several possibilities.

    1.) encore-muxing-error
    2.) general data-transfer-problems

I would hardly recommend to use NTFS-harddrives to send your premaster to the replication or as BDCMF on BD-R.

it needs to be fully formatted (no quick-format) and you should use the latest paragon ntfs4mac.

    good luck

This is definitely a data transfer issue – BluStreak always creates the correct content hash table. Did you read our article about file systems?

    https://blustreak.dvdafteredit.com/folders-and-file-systems

What method and media did you use to transfer the data to the replication facility?

    Hi Erin,

Could you tell us how you solved this. We’re having the same issue and it’s starting to get really frustrating. Spent a fortune on sending drives and discs to replicating facility.

    Thanks
    Quinn

    Hi Erin,

I have a question about blu-ray and aacs.
Do I need authoring software to make the hash files that aacs requires?

    Thank you in advance,
    -Sam

    Hello!
    Thanks for the specs.
Can you explain a little the solution about this Bluray replication problem?
    Thanks a lot
