as you described – it´s not possible, as you can´t do movieobject and/or button-command-programming, what would be necessary to do so.if you are working on mac, you could buy blustreak tracer, and you could edit button/movieobject-commands after you´ve built your BD within encore and correct the code afterwards.
but deeper BD-skills are necessary to do so.

if you have 24fps souce, you should create a preset in compressor to encode your assets.24fps-source will be transcoded to 29.98 NDF (non dropped frames) with 3:2 pulldown, but you need to slow it down to 23.98 first. this could be done using apple cinema tools – very easy, one click.
and for better results you should do scaling to NTSC frame-size before encoding.

the topmenu-button is a hardwired button. it´s linked to any place the author would have the topmenu.select the disk-icon in the flowchart and you can select within properties-window where topmenu should link to.

it´s allways a goot choice to encoder your authoring-assets PRIOR authoring the disc.so in your case – take the assets, drop them into AME (adobe media encoder) and then start authoring

if the DVD was created using one of these DVD-Recoder (consumers) and the disk haven´t been finalized you wont be able to see anything on your computer.no data on disc, neither any video within the software-player.
the disc needs to be finalized first, too if you would like to use streamclip.

as far as I know – panasonic-flat-screens are able to play AVCHD onscreen straight away – but this is not 100%

if you have a still/freeze-menu, you dont need to loop it, so why you are doing this?there are indeed a lot bugs within encore, but you can´t blame them for a problem with power DVD 10. what is this software doing, if you playback your BD? what would happen then? nothing or a complete different track?
maybe power DVD (as it orginaly is a DVD-playback-software) would like to play track 1 (within VTS1 on DVD), as this is what a lot players doing, when playing replicated DVDs and if there is no video-track as firstplay prior the first menu.
within BD there is no more difference between VTS, VTSM, or VMG – a blu-ray only contains clips in playlists, that are placed in a title.
all assets placed in a clip, there´s no difference if it´s a menu or a feature film or whatever.

just let me have a look at my crystal ball – oh, nothing.you might give us a bit more information according to used framerates and encore-project-settings (PAL or NTSC, DVD or BD). however there could be not be less informations than you gave.
