to create a very simple BD isn´t difficult if you are using roxio toast. other option, if you need some more programming it could be done with adobe encore.

16:9 (letterboxed) is the right way to go, but I would advice to encode your assets prior authoring your DVD with DVD studio.

you can do it easiely with compressor.

but DVDs wont look as good as BD on big flat-screens.

you need to create a Blu-ray Disc. HD DVD is a dead format that has been dieing years ago.

if you need to create a simple BD, you could do this using compressor, or toast with the HD-extention and of course a BD-burner and media.

hey guy,
don´t import your PRO RES into encore, just encode it using adobe media encoder prior importing your assets into encore and you wont have that problem.

it´s been possible with encore, but you need to do some more work on your multi-page-menu.

you need to “slice” all your elements, to take care about your buttons and as stan has posted – buttons could not overlap as well within BD as within DVD.

you need to take care to get back to the previous menu – mostly with the same buttons at the same places as your previous page.

BDMV-folder doesn´t only work from commercial discs. they work with burned media as well.

as long as your ISO-file have been working with any BD-player it should also work now.

the ISO-file contains the necessary UDF2.5-file-system that is required by all BD-player.

make sure you bought quality-media like verbatim or tajo yuden.

you need to create a video from your screenshot using FCP and add your selected menu-audio.

graphics are allways WAY to sharp and saturated for SD-TV and on a 50″ flatsreen it will get even worth.

you need to blur it a bit.

you should also look for a panasonic-player as a 2nd player besides your sony player.

I´ve seen some issues on panasonic while they haven´t been shown on sony and vice verca…

so it´s good to have both players for testing purpose.

don´t rely on encores simulator. if you are on a PC you should get a software-player, so you can test your output from the harddisc.

if you are on mac, there is no software-player, but you can think about buying blustreak tracer. it´s a tracing-tool for BD on mac.

and for testing in standalone-players you might think abour buying BD-RE-media.
