    Hi,
you can burn AVCHD-discs on DVD, but if you would like to have a dedicated blu-ray, you should buy a BD-burner.

    cheers

    marc,
you should only use the share-function.

press the “add destination”-button and add the blu-ray to your share-option.

    far tooo easy 😉

FCP X could create a “viewing-copy” styled BD, but you wont be able to select between these two films within a menu.

they all need to be present in one! timeline.

if you would like to have a menu, where you can select one of these, you should use toast 11 + HD-plugin.

with toast you can create easily a blu-ray with a simple menu.

there is NO way to do this.

    DVD-spec is: 720×480 (NTSC) or 720×576 (PAL).

    that´s it.

    Bruce,
you need to create a manual routing within encore – turn off auto-routing and change it for your buttons.

    Jamie,
I couldn´t tell you as you didn´t told us what sequenz-setting you´ve chosen within premiere.

is your sequnz progressive or interlaced, is it PAL or NTSC – do you use any DV-cams (like DVCPRO25/50, DVCAM, DV) or did you shot on HD.

all theses parameters have direct influence on your export/project-settings.

    Bruce,
as we couldn´t see your menu, and especially your menu-PSD-file, all we could do is look into the silver ball….

according to your “stop”-feature… this wont work. if you hit the stop-button on your remote-control the player will stop playing. if you would like to go back to your main/top menu you must setup your topmenu-button to go where you want.

if a player will be stopped by pressing the “stop”-button on the remote-control once, there are still some resume-values in the players RAM, if you hit the play-button afterwards it will start playing where it was been before.

if you hit the stop-button twice – it will be the same as if you put a new disc into the player.

    that´s all DVD-spec.

  • Frank,
I go with you – I have done more BD-authoring within the last 2 years than DVDs here in cologe, germany.

DVD has become more and more a niche-product, as BD-player are at approx. 50€ per unit and blu-rays are sold at 8€.

also BDs-replication-costs decrease within the last years as well…

I´m very curious what will happen within the next years.

  • Hey Edgar,
my congratulations to your new book. You´re doing a really good job (again).
