The error code -2048 relates to not having the correct codec installed.
So it could be that you don’t have the latest DNxHD codecs installed – they are on version 1.9 as of June 23rd.
If that’s not it, and you have the latest versions of everything, the files could be corrupt.

I’ve not come across this bug before but the work around is pretty simple; don’t use ‘same as source’, instead, explicitly set the frame size to 1280×720.
It may be worth trying another format out of Vegas just to confirm that it isn’t the Windows Media file that’s causing the problem.
What codec is your source material in? Can’t you just export that directly to the transcoder?

Hi,
Can you tell me/us exactly what this “Hi-res” material is. I.E. how was it shot or generated? What format is it in? Frame size etc, as much information on the source material as possible please.

The trouble with any ‘list’ or guide like this, just like pretty well every book on the subject, is that by the time it’s compiled or written, it’s usually out of date.
Obviously the other thing to consider are the wide variety of ingredients needed for the recipes:
Platform/OS.
Source format(s).
Content type (fast, slow, average).
Editing software.
Transcode/Encode application(s).
Delivery formats.
Etc.As such I believe it’s often easier for me when people to ask ” I have a video in x format that I need to deliver in ‘y’ format. It’s of ‘z’ subject matter and I have access to ‘a’, ‘b’ & ‘c’ applications.
Sadly most people just ask What’s the best…..way to produce the best ‘y’ without providing any information on ‘a’ ‘b’ ‘c’ & ‘x’.

What do you mean by ‘simple videos’? More details of exactly what you are wanting to up-rez would be helpful.
This is generally done using the Frame Controls in Compressor 3. I’m presuming you’ll be wanting to use the resize and deinterlace controls, have everything set to ‘best’.
See page 255 of the compressor 3 manual for more details.
