No it won’t decompress as you are ‘switching off’ any further video and audio processing by unchecking those boxes.
A video frame is not square obviously, therefore cropping an equal amount will distort it. Your crop values need to retain the 4:3 (or 16:9) aspect ratio. 10 pixels won’t be much distortion but it’s still distortion.

Raven, I agree, those responding to this thread either haven’t read it properly, or haven’t understood your question.
Guys: Raven wants to know why one H.264 clip takes longer to compress than another H.264 clip.
Chris, why should she need to “start over and get your material in an editable format”, H.264 is not only a delivery format H.264 is capable of 10bit 4:4:4 at 4K to over 950Mb/s – andto wide spread acquisition formats like AVCHD

P.s. I noticed that the FishEyeEdit clip on your home page is neither 1.33:1 or 1.78:1 (it’s 1.48:1) and uses a frame size that’s not very suitable for Flash (which loves dimensions divisible by 16 on both axis). Lovely content though.

If you like the iPod preset then use that.
After it has transcoded the clip, open it up in Quicktime pro and choose Export.
In the Export dialog select ‘Movie to Quicktime movie’
Uncheck the Video and Sound check boxes, check the ‘Prepare for Internet streaming’ box and choose ‘Fast Start – Compressed Header’.
By the way, your crop values are wrong, cropping 10 pixels from each side will distort your 4:3 video image.
If your source in FCP is interlaced you need to deinterlace. Use Frame Controls

A very good question, did you try just encoding a 2min section of ‘source 1’ clip to see how long that takes?

If it’s getting stuck at a certain point in a certain clip/programme that would indicate a bit of ‘bad’ or unrecognised media. Does it stop at the same point in the same clip every time?

I guess any support guy, including Apple support (and me!) would suggest that you need to update your OS, which is roughly three years out of date and they’d certainly tell you to get the latest version of compressor which is now on version 3.

Although both compressor and iDVD use the same MPEG-2 Quicktime libraries, iDVD does not use compressor (the application) to do the encoding.

LMAO – Ryanair’s website is lesson in extremely bad website design, it’s awful. Ryanair the airline is a lesson in extremely bad customer service, I’ve had nothing but a horrible experience flying with them. It’s always worth paying the extra, even if it’s for Easyjet!

Well spotted, my mistake.
After some digging it would appear that they plan to ship V.3 early next year – that’s a rather rapid product cycle!
My question to you was rather, are you being asked to produce content for Silverlight, (not H.264 obviously)?

I guess it’s how you read it.
As there’s specifically no mention of version 3, I assume that it’ll in version 2.x, as I said. 😉
Otherwise they would have said ‘H.264 will be available with the release of Silverlight 3’.
Anyhow, are you getting asked to produce for it?
