I looked at that site for my previous project for an intro sequence. Thing is, this can’t just be well designed transitions and showing imagery and information; I need to synch the word animations to music so I need, I guess, more specialized examples of specifically kinetic type. I know the feel I want for it but what to do for the synched up animations is–not so much. I’m trying to work on the storyboard now–not easy with no ideas.

Ok, yes it could hehe. I will do that anyway. Still some examples of something gritty would help.

Well I had to break up the path into 4 sections…left top wing, left bottom wing, right top, right bottom in order to get the stroke to animate the way I needed, which is from the middle out, both bottom and top, at the same time. Is that why the sweep is not working?
Even when I precomposed the now 4 separate paths, still same weird result.

I’ll check it later. I didn’t have time so I’m handing it in w/out the sweep.
Also I’m getting weird artifacts…like an effect on one layer will show up on another that’s not linked to the effect layer at all. Sometimes I’ll turn the fx off and on and that gets rid of it. Sometimes I have to restart the program. What the hell is this?
Also, in renders fx will show up after they’re keyframed to stop (and they do stop in the timeline and ram preview). What’s going on there?

Anyone? This needs to be done by tomorrow. I’ve searched the forums and online and cannot find out how to do this.

That kind of answers my question.
Also, I got through your tut and was applying the light sweep effect but it applied it to the shape of the layer (a rectangle) and not the shape of the path (wings); how do I change this??

Thank you both. About to try that now.
Question: when checking the ‘preserve paths’ option, what are you changing? Iow, what does ‘preserve appearance and overprints’ (the other option) do? Will I have to change this back when doing other work?
And why does AE need a path? Why does an imported vector object not work?
    Thx

Hey Angie! TY for taking the time to do this for me!
I’m trying the version w/out the trapcode. I’ve applied a stroke but nothing is happening. You said you copied and pasted a mask from IL. I just have a black vector of wings (they’re attached to each other so it’s one object). Do I have to convert it to a mask or something??

Oh yes i didn’t mean to come off as if I don’t appreciate any time anyone takes to help me. I apologize if it seemed that way!
I think I’m not seeing the blur b/c it’s black on black. Should I repost this in that other forum?
    Thanks.
Sometimes I’m not sure which forum to use as some questions can fit into all three.

You’re overestimating my understanding of the program. I need more step by step stuff.
My pic is black. I tried applying the fast blur and nothing happened. The end of the animation would look like the whole object is outlined in a glow of rays.
