Yeah im doing it all in After Effects. So, what would you recommend is the best thing to do? Have a composition for each close, mid, and wide shot? but then so when you are zooming out of the close shot, do you switch to the mid shot and continue zooming out? but how do u get the speed of the zoom the same in each composition?
thanks for your help!

November 19, 2007 at 9:42 pm in reply to: Parenting layers for short amounts of time?hey man,
thanks alot that works a treat and is so simple to do once the expression is in place with many different objects.
out of interest how would you add an offset into the expression? so maybe you could use a slider control to change the offset so the object moves around a little. i spose you could also use a wiggle for a more random effect. can u add a wiggle expression at the end? or an offset?
sorry im getting better with expressions, but not really found anywhere that teaches about doing long expressions!
cheers for your help,

November 19, 2007 at 6:37 pm in reply to: Parenting layers for short amounts of time? The only problem with this is that when the checkbox is turned off, the layer goes back to its position where it would be if the expression were not on….i need it so that it would drop off in the position it is at while moving, not jump back to another position…
so its like a hand picks it up and then drops it somewhere else and then the hand keeps moving….
does that make sense?
cheers

This idea sounds very good, and i understand what you mean, im just not so hot with expressions that i can write it myself. trying to learn to…..but what would you put in the pos property of the object instead that would mean
“if checkbox true, pos=hand.pos; else value”
cheers

is there a way so that when the rotation goes below 5 degrees, it will make the time remapped layer go back to its first frame?
thanks again!

thanks for your help, i just tried that now and it works well. however it only plays the time remapped layer once. is it possible so that whenever the layer rotates past 5 degrees it will play the time remapped layer again?
thanks again
