Last I remember, MC6 can AMA link XDCAM MOVs, but you will not be able to consolidate them. You will have to transcode – which will take infinitely longer than just a consolidate.
I hope I am wrong, but I believe that’s the case.

It sounds like it’s a general issue with most of Apple’s “thin” laptops. I doubt it affects the non-retina 2012 MBP but good to check it out.
As a pint of issue: the displayport component is never affected by this issue. Even when my Promise RAID disconnects the displayport monitor (daisy chained) does not cut out. It’s something specific with thunderbolt, not displayport.
Either way we will find out in a couple weeks if the laptop comes back fixed.

I THINK I understand what you’re trying to do, and it should work just fine. We employ a similar workflow on my current show.
Just some questions:
– you say you want to AMA link “XDCAM movs” but actually XDCAM shoots MXF files. Are you saying you want to convert to MOV first? The raw files are MXF, and this does make a difference in the workflow. -
Hi John – are you running the R4 or the R6? And do you have any devices chained after the unit?

Nope, no offer to replace. Part of the problem is that this is a 16GB model, which nobody ever carries in store. It’s just a BTO model.
I wish they had offered to replace, even temporarily with an 8GB model, but no dice.

Hi Oliver, from what I understand — even with self-powered devices such as the Pegasus, the thunderbolt socket still requires some of its own power on the receiving end. Also, remember that the 2011 MBP does not exhibit this issue — so I don’t think it can assumed that all laptops have this problem.

Just running a 2012 macbook pro with a thunderbolt Pegasus RAID. No video monitoring hardware yet — waiting on the Aja T-tap.

If you’re looking for 10.8.0 stories: I upgraded last week. Avid, FCP7 and CS6 all work (as far as I can tell) exactly the same. I gained a bit more battery life when using Safari, probably just a bit more optimizing between the two graphics cards on the laptop…
Other that, it’s functionally pretty much the same. I haven’t used it enough to be able to discern any speed differences. For a “.0” release this is probably one of their better ones…
