If you’re looking for 10.8.0 stories: I upgraded last week. Avid, FCP7 and CS6 all work (as far as I can tell) exactly the same. I gained a bit more battery life when using Safari, probably just a bit more optimizing between the two graphics cards on the laptop…

Other that, it’s functionally pretty much the same. I haven’t used it enough to be able to discern any speed differences. For a “.0” release this is probably one of their better ones…

    Daniel,

    Thanks. Hardware? External video?

Just running a 2012 macbook pro with a thunderbolt Pegasus RAID. No video monitoring hardware yet — waiting on the Aja T-tap.

So I upgraded to 10.8 and found it the easiest upgrade ever. ( 2008 Quadcore 22GBsRam )

Everything seems to work OK. FCPX solid as a rock. The only thing I’ve noticed is that it seems to take a bit longer to open up.

The bonus is that supporting software such as Telestream Episode works fine. Matrox have released new firmware for the MXO2 mini I run.

As before I forgot to load new drivers for my Esata card and wondered why I couldn’t access my GTech external drives but because I had had this problem before it was quickly resolved.

And as for 10.8 ? Most of the operational features are not for me as I do not use iCloud or Facebook etc etc. The new Safari browser takes some getting used to with the unified address and search field.

Having also installed it on my Macbook Pro ( 2009 ) I’ve had fun with dictating the text for titles and favourites.

    So overall a good experience.

No Pro Tools. Avid is consistently late to the OS party. Very uncool.

Meanwhile, using PPCS6/LogicPro9 for audio stuff. ‘Get back to FCPX/PT when Avid decides to jump onboard.

Of late Avid has been good.
I was stuck on 10.5.8 with MC for a few years 😛

I’ve emailed Adam W about this but to spread the word: the Canon XF and FCP plugins won’t install under 10.8. If you’ve got them installed they will work but the installers don’t work so if you have a new machine – tough.

I might tomorrow try copying them across from one computer to another to see if that will work.

Hm? I am running ProTools9 under 10.8 as we speak. It’s open right in front of me.

Are you sure this isn’t a simple 10.8 GateKeeper issue?
Go into 10.8 PrefPane Security General tab and try changing
