You can’t “record actions”, but you can save effect settings into a preset. In the timeline just select the effect AND all of the effect properties that you would like to save. Then go to Animation>Save Animation Preset and save it to the folder where you put the script. The run the script from the File>Scripts>Run Script menu item.

There are plenty of great free third-party resources listed on Adobe help along with the help file itself.

My suggestion is to start with:

Create a preset and place the .ffx file into the same folder as the script
Select at least one footage item in the project panel and run the script

You might be able to do it through scripting, but it would take awhile to write something like that.

The best I can think of is you can copy and paste your custom paths (either masks or shape layers) to Illustrator, but you’ll have to do it one layer at a time and then reapply fill, stroke and re-position them to other paths on other layers, etc.

As far as I know you can’t copy built-in rectangle, ellipse or polystar paths from shape layers.

  • Try this script for converting composition markers to layer markers:

Then cut up the audio layer and nest it into your other compositions.

One trick is to have the glow by itself on a second layer above the original layer.

    Duplicate the layer.
Add a simple choker on the top layer.
Then put your glow effect underneath the simple choker.
Set the Composite Original to None.
Set the Glow Operation to None.
Adjust the choke as needed to get rid of the black edge.
Set your Blending Mode on the top layer to Add or whatever you prefer.

One way is to copy and paste the illustrator paths as masks onto a solid. (I would suggest setting the AICB preference to “Preserve Paths.”) Use redefinery’s “MasksToShapes.jsx” script to convert them all to shapes. Apply a white stroke. Then apply a trim paths animator and change “Trim Multiple Shapes” to “Individually.” This might not be exactly what you want, but it’ll get you to a good starting point. Then you can reorder the paths and group them into sections as needed.

In the timeline, scrub to the frame where the object hits the spot on the motion path that you would like and hit Alt/Opt + P and then delete the original last keyframe.

Make sure the 3D renders are set to “Embedded” color (probably Linear).

Keep the working space at sRGB IEC61966-2.1 in your project settings.

When you go to render set the Output Module color space to your monitor color space, meaning if you have a calibrated monitor you should see that setting in the drop-down. If you haven’t calibrated your monitor then you should check to see how it’s set in your operating system. Pay close attention to the gamma and make sure it’s the same on output.

All colors will be converted to what you see on your monitor.

  • There’s a little drop down to the bottom right of the viewer that says “2 Views”–change that to “1 View”.
