Thanks for the response. The AJA control panel is showing 525i29.97…guessing that’s what it should be.

    Argh!…beta!

You can only have so many buttons on before they get in the way!

Thanks for the response. I put up a post in the BM forum just haven’t heard anything yet.

Hope my query was understandable. Searched the relative forums with no luck.

Biggest question has to do with the BM mini converter sync generator proper NTSC setting (as the BM’s documentation is pretty much non-existant, No directions, just a graph on the back of unit that is not even the same as the physical switches). Also the actual way to send ref IN to the deck.

Thanks again in advance for any advice.

BlackMagic Designs has a low cost solution, the HDlink.

Also, search the forums, this is a well discussed topic.

    Tony,

In compressor you can edit a codec/setting to letterbox in the filters menu. Set the LBOX to 75.0, you may also have to play with the Geometry and pixel aspect.

    Tony,

Are you going up to the viewer window and making sure you are at a 16:9 aspect ratio. Even if you are encoding at 480×270 if the preview window is showing 4:3 you will get a 4:3 video.

When I bring in DvcPro hd 720p it gives me an auto custom aspect of 1.7778. But, If it is giving you a 4:3 (1.33) switch it 16:9.

Also try using unconstrained aspect when editing a new preset.

If he has mpeg streamclip he should be fine. Even if CS3 can’t read the FCP codec streamclip will. Im not sure this is the best way to go about this but I have had success this way. The downside to it, I would think, is how much wrapping and re-wrapping of the video there is. I used it as a bridge between .avi & QT.

    Hope this helps a bit,

    Dane H
