It’s definitely most noticeable on the horizontal movement of the snowboarder. Even, on the head shot it seems to jitter, maybe I’m starting to look to hard?! I just want to make sure it’s as clean as it can be.

Your correct about the luma levals, as what I posted has not had its luma brought into legal territory. But it still does the same on the legal version of the edit. Sorry for the confusion, I wasn’t even thinking of that when I posted that particular piece.

Is there no way to fix that?
If not, it’s too bad for the TV viewers, but great for me, I would be super glad to be finished with this project!

June 4, 2008 at 8:02 pm in reply to: Bug in P2 Log and Transfer related to DVCPRO HD Frame Rate ConverterLance,
Have had a very similar issue after 6.0.3 update. I’m no longer able to slow 60p footage with cinema tools.
I brought a 60p clip ingested pre 6.0.3 in to cinima tools – quality reads: maximum. The clip can be conformed 30p.
Another clip log & transfered post 6.0.3 – quality reads: normal with temporal. The clip says it is 30p & will not conform to 30p. Even though FCP & QT say it is 60p.Our other machine which is running 6.0.2 still brings everything in with a maximum quality read out in Cinema tools. So we have been ingesting through it.
I have had success putting the clip in compressor and using the DVCPRO HD 60p preset (the exact thing the clip says it is!!!) and can then slow down the footage with no ill effects. But not a very good work around if you have a lot of clips.
I would definitely like to hear from more on this.

June 4, 2008 at 7:29 pm in reply to: Adjusting video dissolve but not the audio dissolve?Great question! I’ve really wanted start throwing things in the edit room over this.
I was hoping I was just missing something also. Thanks for putting to rest the thought in my head of “There must be an easier way to do this, I just don’t know/can’t find it”.

Jeremy,
It’s P2 footage shot at 30p. It was a series of long interviews, 30p for a longer record run time.
I must have something else set wrong, because it just doesn’t look as smooth as my interlaced footage on the monitor.
I just finished using compressor on one of the edits. The noticeable flicker on the top and bottom of the letterbox are gone but there is still a slight flicker on motion.
I’ll try a 30p setting with the Kona.
Thanks for your help,

30fps, edited in a 29.97 timebase but with a Quicktime video setting of DvcPro HD 720p60.
Would I have this issue if the video was shot at 60p?
Should I/Can I make a new preset with kona card for 720p30?
Thanks,

Jeremy,
Thanks for the response,What about the flicker on hoizontal movement?
I’m dropping a finished 720p movie into an 8 bit SD timeline.I did a search on posts and got this:
FCP doesent do a good job of resizing. So, I take the 720p to compressor and output an 8 bit uncompressed letterboxed. Then bring it back into FCP to layoff to betaSP.
Any other recommendations?
