    OK – I’m willing, but I can’t get to anything to download with that link.

    I’d suggest applying a wiggle expression to a slider control and then turning on the graph in the timeline so you can see effect of changing each parameter.

    I can’t make your link work.

    It’s hard to figure out what you’re trying to do. Your description doesn’t mention randomness at all but the expression you’re using uses it. If you could specify more exactly what you’re going for, you might get some takers.

    X only:

    temp = thisComp.layer(“Audio Amplitude”).effect(“Both Channels”)(“Slider”);
    [temp, value[1]]

    Y only:

    temp = thisComp.layer(“Audio Amplitude”).effect(“Both Channels”)(“Slider”);
    [value[0], temp]

    Hard to say without seeing what you’re doing, but in general I’d move each segment’s anchor point to the left edge, and make each segment the child of the segment to its left. Only animate the positon of the head of the chain (changing positon of the other layers will break the chain). Do everything else by rotating the children. Something like that. 🙂

    Sorry – apparently I didn’t read your post very well. I’m not sure how you want to control whether the clip moves forwards or backwards but a place to start might be by adding something like

    time +

    to the front of your expression. That should cause the video move along at normal pace until there’s a beat. Or, you could try adding something like

    time + 5 *

    to the front of your expression to increse the surge caused by each beat (change the 5 to whatever works best for you).

    This is probably a better way:

    if (myComp.layer(“EDL”) == null){

    // stuff to do if layer doesn’t exist

    }else{

    // stuff to do if layer does exist

    }

    Ah, I see. Give this a try:

    cycle = 2;
    t = time % cycle;

    numRows = 7;
    numCols = 16;
    xyCompress = 200;
    speedCompress = 1;
    amplitude = 100;

    row = Math.floor((index – 1)/numCols);
    col = (index – 1)%numCols;
    x = col*width + width/2;
    y = row*height + height/2;
    xOffset = (this_comp.width – numCols*width)/2;
    yOffset = (this_comp.height – numRows*height)/2;

    z1 = amplitude*noise([x/xyCompress,y/xyCompress,t/speedCompress]);
    z2 = amplitude*noise([x/xyCompress,y/xyCompress,(t – cycle)/speedCompress]);
    z = linear(t, 0, cycle, z1, z2);
    [x,y,z] + [xOffset,yOffset,0]
