    Sure. You could use a guide layer for the pointer so you could see it while you drag it around, but it wouldn’t render. The expression could be pretty simple – something like this:

    maxScale = 150;
    maxDist = 50;
    pointer = thisComp.layer(“pointer”);
    d = length(transform.position,pointer.transform.position);
    ease(d,0,maxDist,[maxScale,maxScale],value)

    You could undoubtedly do this with expressions, but you need to define your requirements a little tighter. To create the appropriate expression, you need to be able to say exactly how the layers respond to where they are and how that is affected by the animating max scale point.

    You could try an expression like this:

    fadeTime = thisComp.frameDuration;
    if (marker.numKeys > 0){
    linear (Math.abs(time – marker.nearestKey(time).time),0,fadeTime,[-192,-192],value)
    }else{
    value
    }

    I think you might just need some variation of this:

    layerX = thisComp.layer(“Layer X”);
    delta = layerX.transform.position – layerX.transform.position.valueAtTime(0);
    value + delta

    Hard to guess what you’re trying to do, but try this:

    L = thisComp.layer(“your other layer”);
    L.toWorld(L.anchorPoint);

    It shouldn’t be too tough to write a script to do this, but you likely won’t find one already written that does exactly what you need without modification (any script will be dependent on your layer and comp names, data file format, etc.)

    Hmmm… AE treats type layers as being the full dimensions of the comp they’re in. Try precomping but reduce the dimensions of the precomp to just fit the text.

    No, that wouldn’t work. You’d be clamping the audio level (which probably varies between 0 and 20 or so) to the range between 50 and 150. Since it would always be less than the lower limit (50) the result would always be clamped at 50.

    It’s going to look like this:

    maxAudio = 20; // whatever your maxium audio amplitude is
    temp = thisComp.layer(“Audio Amplitude”).effect(“Both Channels”)(“Slider”);
    linear(temp,0,maxAudio,[50,50],[150,150])

    You must have the demo version of a plugin installed. What effects are you using in your project?
