Michael is absolutely right regarding choosing the editor.

In my experience Avid is the professional software for cutting across the board, fcp X is great but for home / stand alone use.

My advise is get a mac and if it’s Media Composer you go for, hire the Avid MC software. I have just cut a series for BBC from home on Avid. I used my Mac Pro, Lion OS and rented Avid 6.5 by direct debit for five months. It worked absolutely perfectly.

I think you have solved the mystery of my tracking problem!
I am re cutting a film and have been pulling my hair out
trying to figure out why the previous editors tracking was so good and mine so rubbish.

I now think this is how he has done it.

Thanks very much for that, I will start using it ASAP.

    Cheers, Dan.

    Thanks Glenn for post.
Can I ask, when doing a track, pip. Is it important
    to track all four corners?

    Thanks.

    Thanks for the posts guys.
Very much appreciated, I shall try all I the above.

Can I just ask, in terms of the tracking itself, I have been
using pic in pic, then clicking on the 3D option bottom right of window. Then I use one of the ‘corner tracking’ options, making any adjustments with keys frames.

Is that considered to be a decent way of doing it of is there a better, smoother option?

Thanks again for any help with this.

    Dan.

Possibly a daft question, but have you tried exporting
a small section without doing a mix down?
Also is the commentary stereo? If so if try mono.

    Hi Scott,
Does it matter which clip goes on which video layer?
I put the archive on V 1 and the car window shot on V2 and swapped sources.
