    Hi Bonni,

I don’t have an answer for you, but if you don’t mind, I would like to
piggy-back my more general question with yours.

I’m looking for anyone with hard experience using Gigabit ethernet for
editing in FCP. In the past I had a lab where I could have up to 3
workstations moving DV around at the same time over GB ethernet to an
Xserve. Now, I would like to edit SD 10bit uncompressed with FCP using
media stored remotely and accessed via GB ethernet. I figure I need at
least 40MB/sec for this which GB should handle. Any thoughts, numbers, links,
    antedotes, or suggestions?

Check with the Sonnet site to be sure you are using the most current firmware version on your SATA card. I experienced a similar “wake up dead” problem with a SATA RAID setup with the same Sonnet card, but not while running FCP. The problem was most pronounced with a mirrored RAID setup and ended after the latest firmware was installed on the SATA card. Also, I would suggest not allowing anything to sleep other than the display in the Energy Saver control panel settings (i.e. set system to “Never” sleep and uncheck the put hard drives to sleep option).

    Good luck.

    Howdy,

I’m searching for a BWF import solution for FCP too. Although it looks like it will do the job, I went to the Spherico Film Tools site and there’s no way to download/purchase BounceUSII. There’s just an email address. Any knowledge on how you get copy of BounceUSII? Is this a beta application?
