When I wake from sleep and FCP 5 is running and using my RAID, FCP then freezes up. When using my RAID or FCP 5 separately, this doesn’t happen. I usually turn sleep off when I’m in full edit mode, but between productions I usually have it on. I’m using FCP 5, Tiger, G5 2.3ghz, and a Sonnet SATA 8 port card. I have a feeling it’s FCP 5, not the Sonnet card. Anyone else having this problem?

Drives should never be set to sleep in my experience.

Check with the Sonnet site to be sure you are using the most current firmware version on your SATA card. I experienced a similar “wake up dead” problem with a SATA RAID setup with the same Sonnet card, but not while running FCP. The problem was most pronounced with a mirrored RAID setup and ended after the latest firmware was installed on the SATA card. Also, I would suggest not allowing anything to sleep other than the display in the Energy Saver control panel settings (i.e. set system to “Never” sleep and uncheck the put hard drives to sleep option).

    Good luck.
