  • Thanks. That’s good news. I’m looking forward to being a Vegas Movie Studio Platinum user after a year and a half of using a competing product.

Please disregard. I finally figured out that I also have to disable auto-ripple when doing this.

I am not sure why having auto-ripple ON causes the video to be deleted. I thought auto-ripple was related to whether to slide other clips right or left when performing an operation such as deleting a clip, resizing a clip, etc.

  • Thanks Theo. After further research, as far as I can tell, Soundforge Studio can not open the clips from my Sony camcorder which are .m2ts AVCHD with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. Since it won’t be able to open or edit the audio portion of my clips, and the 1001 sound effects can be downloaded free (courtesy of the link you provided), it doesn’t seem that the Pro Pack will offer much extra for me.

  • Followup:

I found that the AVI for Windows route works to keep the bit rate high, but within DVD limits. The AVI file has a high bit rate (higher than DVD.

MVS: render AVCHD clips to an AVI for Windows file (lower field first).
Then add that file into DVDA Studio and set the bit rate default slider to 8.00

  • Thanks for responding. The AVCHD files have a file extension of .m2ts. In Architect, those files don’t appear in the Explorer tab so I don’t know how to get them into Architect.

*.mpg files do appear, so I changed the extension of one of the AVCHD files to .mpg (since I think it is a type of mpeg file??). The file then showed up in Architect’s Explorer panel, but when I tried to open it I got an error that said it is not a supported file type.

I’ll experiment with having Movie Studio render some other file types that might have a higher bit rate (AVI perhaps?) and then see if Architect will process them.
