  • Vegas Movie Studio Platinum Pro Pack vs. Regular Platinum?

    Pre-purchase question:

per the Sony website version-comparison, the MovieStudio “Pro Pack” extras include: 1001 sound effects, Sound Forge Audio Studio, and 106 NewBlue 3D Transitions plus Cartoonr. But they don’t provide much detail about these add-ons, so I am wondering whether the Pro Pack is worth the extra approx. $20 in cost.

I am familiar with Cartoonr, but how about the NewBlue transitions in the Pro Pack — are they gimmicky, or are there some that are appropriate for general use and are different than those already included with Vegas Movie Studio Platinum base program?

Also I have read posts in forums about something named “Cinescore” as being included with MovieStudio Platinum, but Sony’s website doesn’t list it as being included. Is it included in either Platinum or Platinum Pro Pack?

    Thanks.

For as far as I know, Cinescore is not being sold anymore.

About the New Blue transitions, they are not my favorite. But thats just my personal opinion. And about the Soundforge, the version included in the pro pack of Movie Studio is the studio version, not the pro version.

And sound-effects can be downloaded from the Sony website anyhow:

But still, the price difference between the platinum regular and the pro pack is not that big. So you will have to decide yourself…

Thanks Theo. After further research, as far as I can tell, Soundforge Studio can not open the clips from my Sony camcorder which are .m2ts AVCHD with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. Since it won’t be able to open or edit the audio portion of my clips, and the 1001 sound effects can be downloaded free (courtesy of the link you provided), it doesn’t seem that the Pro Pack will offer much extra for me.
