    It just looks like some stock film clutter/light leaks composited over the video with Add or Screen mode. Something like this but I’m sure there are lots of other places that sell this sort of stock.

    This is also the forum for After Effects Expressions, you want to post in the main After Effects forum for these types of questions next time. :o)

    Hope that helps,
    Ben

    [david Cabestany] “Contact Apple, they have every serial on file.”

    If you registered, and haven’t spent the last few years cancelling the Register Now window! (I’ve seen this happen in a couple of studios – not the smartest move.)

    But yeah, Apple support is your best bet.

    This probably gets brought up fairly often when talking about preferences, but check out Preference Manager. This will save you from having to redo all your prefs after you’ve ditched them. Saves a few minutes each time. Of course, you’ll need a good set of preferences to start with.

    If you twirl down the property enough you will get a graph. Set the keyframe to Ease In/Out and you can adjust the bezier curve very easily.

    Hope that helps,

    That’s right. FAT32 would limit you to 4GB files, which works out to around 20 mins DV footage. You’d be best off reformatting the drive to HFS+.

    That wouldn’t explain why you could acquire to your system drive though. Maybe a combo of this and the Minimum Free Space would though.

    Just a little thought, do you have your Scratch disks set up correctly. You said that you changed the capture scratch to your internal drive, but do you have an insane number in the “Minimum Allowable Free Space on Scratch Disks”? It’s also in the System Settings.

    This could easily happen if you’re following the good practice of not filling up your drives too much using this setting.

    Hope that helps,

    Sounds like it should go in a different forum then. :o)

    October 8, 2009 at 5:19 am in reply to: custom comp viewing size

    You could set up and save your own personal workspace, with the viewer set to fit up to 100%. AFAIK there’s no way to alter the zoom to a custom fixed percentage.

    Is there a special reason why Fit up to 100% isn’t working for you?

    Cheers,
    Ben

    October 8, 2009 at 5:12 am in reply to: anchored lines

    There’s a number of different ways to do this and here’s a couple:

    i) Use a Beam effect, and set one end to your static point. Then use an expression and pickwhip the Null’s position to the second point.

    ii) Use a lovely “Point At” expression on a line shape. Apply this to the rotation of you line layer:

    from=transform.position;
    to=thisComp.layer("YOUR LAYER").transform.position;
    delta=sub(from,to);
    angle=Math.atan2(delta[1],delta[0]);
    radiansToDegrees(angle)+180;

    Just change the layer name in line 2 to your Null layer’s name.

    All the best,
    Ben

    October 6, 2009 at 9:11 am in reply to: Capturing HDV to Apple Prores422 problems

    When you say Final Cut V6 do you mean V6.05? Grab the updates from Apple’s site.

    Your Audio/Video capture settings sound as if it should work fine:
    Capture Preset: HDV-Apple ProRes 422

    Have you tried to use another device control preset? HDV Firewire Basic for example.

    All the best,
    Ben
