sorry yes i saw it on telly last night , i was pretty tired..
well the effect and the look.. are what i would like to know how to do
The colours are all shades of grey with a desauturated red on things like the snow board or the lady ice dancers dress.
and the effect well for example the snowboarder does a jump up a halfpipe (??) turns and comes down the other side (can you do that in after effects ????) as he does his trick the image gets left behind so by the time he has finished there are maybe 8 distinct images of him at various stages of the trick.. all moving. The same is done with the tobogan so it looks like a number of tobogans ‘following’ the leader.
i suppose the effect could be done by having the footage on layers offset by so many frame and rotoscoping the areas to show through, or maybe with some kind of layer blending (wouldnt this mess up the background tho?). Maybe there is another way.
Anyway , the bbc often come up with great trailers where thedesign and coregraphy foar outweigh the special effects , it just this looked so elegant simple and cool i would like to be able to “copy” it..

its possibly dead simple but the image echos itself as the snowboarder/ bob sleigh etc does its ting..
