February 2, 2012 at 6:51 pm in reply to: Need a workflow for testing MPEG2 transport streams for broadcast qualityHi cat
Hope this finds you well – ok so a few questions – what are you cutting – is it HD or SD and whay res 1080 – 720 is all the footage the same format or are you uprezing – cross converting ?
Under 4MB seems very low – in your settings is there lower field or progressive … I would export to a DVD and playback on a tv as you would need a stradis card or other mpeg 2 decoder card to a SDI signal to see issues
I normally flip fields to progressive in episode or rhozet and check back on 10.7 lion as there is a mpeg 2 codec in there that allos 422 and 420 in QTX
Is it 420 or 422 for comcast ?
So for the geek out – I deal with 100s of TVCs a day ;+)

January 24, 2012 at 12:57 pm in reply to: Did I stumble onto something like “reconnect media” in X?I had a nightmare last night where i have done the following;
FCPX to OMF with the free duck, once created wouldn’t open in Soundtrack so went lets try Audition, no luck either …. went back into FCPX and my External Audio files were offline, he is me thinking – oh shared programs – nope files would not reconnect for anything – – Dup Projects, Nope, Modify , Nope Swearing nope ! re-import – nope (get the picture)
After HOURS of abuse and a good part of a bottle of red wine i admitted defeat and went to bed.
I tried again this morning – nothing, so I went outside the box ……
Exported a XML, then reimported it back in – BOOM media relinked !!! I deleted the project i imported in from the xml and all is good again
Hope this works for everyone else cause that was a horrible night !
Also I have to say the Xto7 app is amazing – best investment ever – as i managed to get my files to STB via FCPX -> xto7 -> send to Soundtrack – worked a charm

Hi Christopher,
So sorry to hear of the nightmare you must of had, I am lucky enough not to of gone though this, When you open FCPX does it show you the project at all – upto any stage of it ? can you see you footage – also do you have any drives not mounted from yesterday ? I had a FW800 and saved my projects on there and when that is not mounted it can see them …
Hope this helps in some way … good luck !

December 28, 2011 at 4:26 pm in reply to: Exporting over 100 videos from FCPX….whats the best way?Hi Rocco you would think you could do this but this is a feature that was removed – god only knows what batch export was removed …..
Seeing you already have the sequences you might look at projectX27 a fcpx to fcp xml converter – as you have fcp you can then do the batch from there … Wish there was a better way …

December 2, 2011 at 6:20 am in reply to: Can’t get past final cut 3.0 registration screenHi there !
Search for digital rebellion – they are an awesome company that has a workaround to avoid this … Fcp3 in dew respect is pretty old – hopefully their workaround will work for you
Failing that they also have removal tools for fcp – so a reinstall may be on the cards – good luck !
