Try:
Select the audio clips and create batch capture list. Maybe you can change the capture settings to Video & Audio.(Make the Audio Clips Offline first if you need to).

Maybe you have set to capture clip with 5 frame Handles.

July 7, 2005 at 12:31 am in reply to: 4:3 to 16:9 (Letterboxing) Without Image degradationBill made referene to the Panasonic DVX100 camera in his original post. I own one of these so am aware of what he refers to in the context of this thread.
The camera can shoot normal DV, Squeezed DV or Letterbox.
Normal produces 4:3 picture with 1.067 PAR px (PAL in my case)
Letterbox produces 1.422 pixels with a mask top and bottom. (PAL again)
Squeezed – I do not know as I have not used that so disregard it for now.Normal shown on a 16:9 screen is pillarboxed ( black bars left & right)
Letterbox on a 16:9 screen fills the screen totally without bars anywhere. Both examples above are non distorting (screen setup dependent).
My suggestion to Bill was made assuming that he was wanting to play out to a 16:9 screen.

Use the Interpret Footage Feature to change the Pixel Shape of your source media.
Select Source in Project Window to achieve this function.
You may need to do this in a widescreen 16:9 project because after Interpreting footage you will need to export it as per project.
BTW : I have not done the above myself but recently I had to use the Interpret Footage Feature to convert PA from 1.422 to 1.07 ( PAL DV PAR). Worked a treat so I suggest it maybe part of a solution for your issue.

It does not compress it twice in my case because I Uncheck the Recompress box for my avi export.
It is just a convenient way for me to do it because I always need an uncompressed DV avi of my work anyway.
It is also convenient that I can leave my PPRo export setting the same for every export I do ( apart from maybe the Export Work Area bar option) and the QT setting is pretty consistent as well.

My monitors run something called ‘Adobe gamma loader.exe’ if it helps.
I believe it came from Adobe Photoshop but maybe it installed with PremierePro or even After Effects ( although I have only had this recently). It has been on my many NLE / Graphic machines (various over ten years) and I never recall installing it seaparately.

Personally I do it the “cheats way” but it works very well.
I export a DV avi as per normal (large file etc)
I then open it in Quicktime Pro. Export it to whatever from the many options available. (Size / codec , streaming etc….)
You could then delete the large avi file if space is an issue.

It is also possible to do this by scaling and moving the image in the Program window interactively creating keyframes as you go.

Buy the latest version of same camera should future proof you for a day or two. Its just being released and is called an Panasonic HVX200.
Otherwise the existing Camera is a great choice ( I have one and love it) and it will do a great job for you.

June 28, 2005 at 12:48 am in reply to: Montage – Best way to add motion w/o konwing clip lengthSounds a bit “pedestrian” doing it a mathmatical way so I would wait for the music… but there is plenty of other stuff you can do…like putting pix in order in the project window.
There is a feature in PremPro that allows you to automate to sequence that you my already be aware of.
When you get the music, let it run in the timeline and tap the key to place markers in a rythym to the music. Automate to Sequence and then start making your moves.
