off topic…but PLEEEEASE…I need help!
Hello! I know this is off topic, but if it helps I use Premiere pro 🙂 !
I am looking to buy a camera…the one I had in mind was the Panasonic ag-dvx100a…mainly for the film like 24p capability. My concern…being that this cam came out in 2003 (I may be wrong) I am just concerned that right when I buy this, it will be out of date and crumble in my hands!
Any thoughts???

Buy the latest version of same camera should future proof you for a day or two. Its just being released and is called an Panasonic HVX200.
Otherwise the existing Camera is a great choice ( I have one and love it) and it will do a great job for you.

That is the way it works with any technology. I remember purchasing one of the higher end laptops for editing and within three months there was new technology that was much more efficient and powerful.
If you are satisified with it now, then purchase it. If you think you need the extra features of the new version, then wait and purchase that one.

Best mini-dv prosumer camera out there. The picture quality of the 24p mode is amazing, and in my opinion the viewfinder and erganomics are best in class as well. As long as you don’t need HD, buy it and don’t look back. If HD is a consideration, as stated above, the HVX200 looks pretty sweet but it’ll probably be at least another six months, maybe more, before it’s readily available.

Just remember that shooting 24p does not in itself give you a “film look”. You must light the shot like film as well. Among other things.
