I am not sure I now understand what you are trying to achieve. Your diagram seems to show a video clip and three audio tracks of various lengths.

PremPro can “end trim” ,slip, slide, roll edit etc the audio tracks exactly as you show.

Whats the difficulty ? It is no problem to trim in any direction (if you have enough media of course).

My suggestion can only deal with one clip in one track at a time. Interested to know how it is done over multiple tracks, in one-step, in other applications.

You would need a lot of keyboard shortcuts to direct the function to each of the “text entereable locations”. (eg in and out on just source and program would require 4 shortcuts)

What does “asynchronous trimming ” mean ?

I’ll take a guess and assume you want to trim audio or video in the same clip to different lengths. ( a “J” or an “L” cut).

Easy – select the clip in the time line and then hold the “ALT” key down as you drag the appropriate end of the audio or video track.

Why not run it through an external mixer (eg. via a VCR dck with meters) if it is so important that you capture at the right level.

Try it and see…but you will get repeated frames as the message says.

What it is saying is that you have not “provided” extra (overlap)frames for the transition so it will go ahead and repeat the first frame to fill in the gap.

A real transition uses “extra frames”.

Check the manual and you will see a digram how a transition works. All will become clear.

It means that you do not have “handles” on the end of the clips These are needed to build the transition. Think of it as extra frames (or overlapping frames) on either side of the In & Out Points of a clip in the timeline.

Maybe his camera does not have the Clock Set.

Scene detect requires a running real time clock in the camear and the source tape. (not to be confused with T/Code)

Import the sequence into the project window by importing the other project.

Try it on a few clips and you will see that it is very subtle. Possibly you will notice nothing different.

All it will do is “limit” the chroma to safe broadcast range.

Apply it to all the clips. (Watch the effect in the vectorscope if you want)

or…apply it to none of the clips and tell your client that you did.
