if everything plays off the Premiere timeline fine, then we can hypothesize that its an export issue.

maybe you could try exporting your work area only as an .avi file. i realize that you will still have to encode it in Encore, but atleast you could preview the .avi file before importing to Encore in order to make sure the file plays correctly in your windows media player. if it does than i guess you might be safe, if not there will be more exploring to do. you said “Then I export to Adobe Encore at 4800 (audio)”…you meant 48,000 right?

you might export the video alone and the audio alone and then place them on the same timeline in encore, as you had suggested, thats another good test.

ive never exported directly to encore, ive always exported to the hard drive then imported to encore.

    i hope that helps.

what if you did a system restore to the day before you deleted those files. that might bring those files back, but it might set back some of the work that you did too. hop eyou find a solution.

  • if you right click on your keyframe, check out the keyframe interpolation settings. ive had similair problems where there is excess motion outside of what i was looking for. a lot of times i solved the issue by setting everything to linear interpolation. i hope that helps.

if you dont have 3d stroke, i would suggest creating some graphics (your heart beat line) in Photoshop or Illustrator and animating masks on that graphic in AE. You might also make the graphics in AE if it works for you. Add a little feather to your mask and animate it across your graphic. i hope that helps a bit. lets go Wings!

  • unless you rotoscope your subject(ghost), any effect you use will effect your entire frame. in order to effect only the ghost, you must isolate that person/ghost/object. green screen would be ideal in this situation, however, rotoscoping may be the next best option if you dont have your ghost on a green screen…

    unless the ghost isnt moving.

if your ghost isnt moving you could grab stills…maybe 5 stills of your ghost in slightly different positons. you could use these stills to bring your ghost in and out.

i think the key here is to have your ghost as a single layer, that is, the ghost is cut from the background. if you want this whispy, sand-blowing effect then your ghost needs to be a seperate element from the background.

thanks steve. we have an older version of aspect hd that worked well with HDV footage so we will more than likely upgrade to the newest version. We thought that Cineform would be the most likely suggestion. Thanks for your help.

    thanks Joe,

ive tried a million things, but as was suggested in a previous post, i just started over. im sure that the color set was not an issue, i did change it. i even tried using the pre-made buttons, but they still didnt work. im having a feeling it has to do with the fact that the text was a PS document by itself with alpha channels. then again, im not really sure. i just made still menus, no moving video, and everything worked out well enough. im thinking its time to upgrade to 2.0 though. this encore is a nice software, but perhaps a little to young to endure complicated tasks. the way i had things originally laid out seemed easy enough, but you cant really assume anything. thanks for the help, heres a little something for the weekend:

Q: What do you do to an elephant with three balls?

A: Walk him and pitch to the rhinoceros!

    Have a great holiday weekend!

no, but i can tell you what i did.

basically, i made a photoshop document. a picture, a black box over the bottom, then text inside that box. simple right? i have 6 layers of text

    1. 2002
    2. Main VIdeo
    3. Slideshow

these are one under the other, on the right side

on the left side we have

    4. 2003
    5. Main Video
    6. Slideshow

i imported the PS doc into encore as a menu. changed the main video and slideshow “objects” to “buttons” and linked my video files to them.

the DVD was more complicated before, but i tried to make it impossible for it not to work. im either overlooking something very simple, or something very strange is going on.

    thanks for the help.
