is that the U2410 for about $600? I notice it has HDMI and VGA inputs. Could it also be used as a low end TV monitor for color correction or to just see what the image looks like on a TV monitor? I doubt it but just wondered.

Ran both “repair permissions” (which I do regularly) and Diskwarrior 4.2 booted from my 10.5.8 clone, (which I run when I have performance issues).

DiskWarrior did speed things up. No major problems found.

Desktop still invisible in my user account.

I checked back at my archived CCC files and the invisible desktop started almost a year ago.

I think it might have begun when I installed Basilisk II, which is an old Mac OS emulator. For some reason the program installed in an “applications” folder that was in my user account folder. No other apps were in there. The folder actually had Apple’s app icon on the folder image. I moved Basilisk II to the regular apps folder and deleted this misplaced folder.

Everything on the Mac has been running smoothly. No serious problems. Safari crashes some times when it deals with flash media. Other than that I only run into problems when I over tax the limited amount of ram. FCP runs fine. QT runs fine. I never noticed that desktop was invisible since I either access it from the desktop, the dock, or the sidebar. All these behave normally.

I did a search for invisible folders named desktop. And sure enough it is in my user folder. Is it suppose to be invisible? If not how do i make it visible again. There is no ‘.’ before its name. So that’s not it.

Looking for a good screen capture app. Downloaded ISHOWU. Looks like a great feature set. I get most of the options. But what do I set in order to frame the capture the way I want. I see a back frame, but I can’t grab it with hand to move it or grab corners to resize it. I am also getting a message that says if i want to get rid of logo or water mark to click on it and press delete. But I don’t see it on the screen. What settings are messed up? As soon I click anywhere I’m switched to the app beneath it.

Just to be clear: They told me you could take it to take it to Apple for AppleCare repairs.

But I’m interested in how use the adapters. I assume if you are plugged into usb ports you are getting usb speeds. This is successful for capturing/editing HD footage say in prores?

Even it works to just capture the footage, I could then switch to the firewire port for editing. My external drives have quad interfaces so I wouldn’t need adapters. I’ve always read that this set up would drop frames.

It’s an OEM card. Has been used in Macs so there must be a driver. The GT 120 is a based on the 9500 GT with improved thermal designs. So maybe it uses the same driver? Contact Nvidia.
