    Thanks for the info!

Just a quick question, when I update my FCP, will my existing FCP project file still load and transfer over okay?

    Shane,

Just a quick question regarding this same problem. I accidentally installed Snow Leopard without knowing it would create major problems with my FCP version 5. I too cannot upload my P2 Card footage and get an error message when I try to do so.

I’ve read that some people go back to Leopard to solve the problem. In my case, upgrading to FCP 7 would actually be easier. But will that work? I just want to make sure that with FCP 7 and Snow Leopard, I will be able to upload my P2 card footage without any error message.

    Thanks

Do you know that will definitely work? Because honestly my FCP is due for an upgrade and I might rather upgrade it than trash everything and go back to Leopard. Reading other posts, I’m pretty sure going back to Leopard will definitely solve the problem. But will keeping Snow Leopard and just upgrading FCP work for sure? I feel like Shane Ross knows something about this but couldn’t find a way to email him.

I cannot believe I didn’t realize this before. There was one difference from before and now. I had installed Snow Leopard. And I’ve read that people had problems with this. Maybe I downgrade OS or upgrade FCP? It must be the problem.

Okay so I actually figured out how to export from P2CMS and for FCP to read the files. But… the im still getting the error. Might this mean the files themselves are somehow corrupted? I just don’t see how they could be since I didn’t do anything to them, they just sat on the external HD. The error is confusing because I can play the files in FCP before importing them, and all of the audio and video is there… so maybe the problem is my FCP?

The help so far has been greatly appreciated btw. Any ideas as to what I might do next?

Yes there is something under Import that says Panasonic P2. But I already tried this. And that was what I was using originally when I got my error problem. It doesn’t recognize the format of the video file after it has been ingested by P2 CMS. Or maybe I’m just not doing it right?

I don’t have a Log and Transfer on my version of FCP as I have 5.1. Does this mean the only way it will work is if I update my FCP?

I just downloaded it and it reads all of the files fine. But when I ingest them, it puts them into a file and structure I haven’t seen before and I’m not sure how to use. Is there a way to take those ingested files and get them into FCP as readable video clips?

    Thanks
