Yeah, but it’s not shaky. It’s very smooth with a very slow rocking. I probably won’t even use a clip long enough in the final cut to see a whole swing from one side to the other. I’m just wondering what is the best way to keep vertical lines vertical.

Would it be to use some of the tracking functions? Or maybe it really is to use the warp stabilizer but not at the settings that I’m using currently (default).

    I’m using Production Premium CS5.5.

Just now I was trying it with the grid over my footage and just rotating the footage to counteract the swinging. It works ok, but getting the rate of rotation is nearly impossible as it’s not a steady side to side pendulum swing.

So this footage isn’t shaky, it’s more like a very slow rocking. It takes about 4-6 seconds to go from one side to the other. And it’s only like 2-4 degrees. It’s very smooth, it just feels like you’re on a cruise ship.

I think the problem was that I just didn’t have the unit balanced quite right, or possibly I was moving too fast.

Is there a good suggestion for how to straighten that out?

  • Hey guys, thanks.

I can’t rent the Nikon. My boss borrowed a MkIII to do a demo with and his boss saw that so we have to stick with the same camera here. I’m the only video person here and everybody is very literal, so I can’t switch cameras.

And I won’t be transcoding. I’m editing in Adobe so everything just drops in.

I think working from the cards should be fine. Mostly I was looking for the monitor but I’ve done a reasonable job so far just on the back of the camera. For the next project we do like this I’m going to try to get a whole rig with a monitor and such though.

Do you have any suggestions for a piece of software? Do you know if any with a screen flip?

I’ll have a look around and see what I can find.

It’s the Prompter People Flex Series prompter with the VGA and Composite inputs.

I haven’t gotten anything yet. I sent a request a few days ago but I haven’t heard anything back. I annoy a lot of people so it shouldn’t take too long.

I think it’s due to being a human and not a dog or a bat. I’m pretty sure people can only here to about 20k. I have a brother in law that says he can hear to 26k, but I think he says a lot of stuff that is only partly true.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. It sounds like a pretty even distribution of votes. I may try to order all of them and just keep the ones that I like best.

Oh, that’s right. I saw those in one of your other posts. I’ll definitely consider those and add them to the list.

What would you say are your favorite characteristics about the 680s that makes them rise above the rest?

That’s what I use too. I have a wired lav as well but 90% of the time I use the G3. I like it just fine. And and as I improve my mic work it’ll sound even better I’m sure.
