Depends on what your camera is capable of and what your final format is. You have to keep track of Youtube encoding settings.
Upload some test clips and view them. Then create some rendering templates in Vegas. There is no magic one size fits all.

Hi Stephen,
I was away and did not catch your problem. Will try a few things and get back to you over the next few days. Just so you know, I do a lot of conducting and also produce orchestra sessions. Regarding your setup: If you want to go multi track to 16 plus channels on the PC, I would recommend either RME(various configs) or Lynx Aurora. They are not cheap, but both systems are reliable for the higher track counts you need for orchestras. That being said, I should mention that all the engineers I have worked with always use some kind of second system in case of computer issues. I sometimes use 3 Tascam pocket recorders that I mount 12-15 feet high and leave running throughout the session. (Poor man’s Decca tree)I also have a Yamaha hard disk recorder which I use to record 8 tracks separately from the computer either using directs outs/inserts from the mixer or splitters from the mics. A new mixer that you may want to look at is the Behringer X-32. It does not have as transparent preamps as RME or Lynx, but is sonically comparable to Presonus. Your Mic cables plug into a separate stagebox that connects to the mixer with a single ethernet cable. It has at least 16 xlr inputs and you can bus channels to the computer and a separate recorder. Very strange. I can even work the slider on the color match plugin to adjust the level I want it to match. I did apply the latest SVP 12 upgrade, but I’m sure I did this job before the upgrade came out. I just tried another one on my laptop (build 394)and it also works. I am not running any other plugins on the track. I come from a music background and in audio there is a definite preferred order and technique for plug in chains. Maybe you’re coming up against this on SVP12 on the video side? Maybe try the update and check again? Colin

Hi Roger,
I went back to the job were I used color match. Turns out I was archiving footage onto Bluray. I took a small section and rendered it with the color adjusted. I brought the rendered section into the project and opened it in the trimmer. Then I opened the track plugins for color match and used the trimmer clip as reference. -
Interesting. I sure I did the color match first. Thought I had a couple more plugins going on the track. Will check and test.

Hi Roger. I have applied it to the track successfully. Open the reference clip in the trimmer. Open the plugins from the track. Select “use trimmer image” as the image source. Not as good as real color correction but quite usable and fast.

Hi James,
You need to turn off the auto setting on the camera and test some filters in manual until you find a sweet spot for the particular camera. I have used a selection of ND, and graduated filters in the past and it has worked well. Shooting in manual with an ND filter really helps reduce the flatness of the image and allows you more control. Graduated takes care of the sky so it does not wash out. I would also try to shoot later in the day-you get a nicer sun.
You really have to do some test shots and make notes as to what worked with your camera. Hope this helps. -
It will be much faster with a 3rd gen i7. I have an earlier i7 ASUS laptop with a Geoforce GT 335M(1GB) and 8 gigs of ram and a simple HD MP4 render is maybe 1.4X the footage length. So 40 mins takes an hour. When I say simple, I mean cuts, fades, and simple titles. The GTX 660 is well within the recommended specs for SVP12 (link below) so you may also benefit from the GPU acceleration, but there is no guarantee. Exact….well you would have to dig down into the system info and what other software plug-ins are running.
John did say to have up to date drivers and see what others are running successfully.
