How good is this laptop( Lenovo Y580) in terms of Sony Vegas video editing/rendering speeds?
Current Laptop specs
Dell Laptop w/ Windows 7. Inspiron N50304.Processor: Pentium Dual Core CPU T4500 @ 2.30 GHZ
5.Ram: 8.00 Gb.(originally 2gb, but i upgraded it to 8gb)
6.System type: 64 bit operating system
With the right settings, it basically takes me 1 hour+50 minutes – 2 hours and 30 minutes to render a 20 minute HD video in either MP4, or WMV in Sony Vegas Pro 12.(while the file save is managable. IE not to big) From what I’ve noticed in regards to rendering, my laptop gets completely hot, the CPU goes to 100%, and my laptop is much slower until Vegas is finished with rendering the video.
I’ve been thinking of getting the Y580 for a good while, but just to make sure, how much better can I expect video editing/ Rendering speeds with the Y580? Can I expect the render time to take 10-20 or 30 minutes at max for a 20- 30 minute HD video?(720p)? Whats the estimated range time?
Here is the link where it shows the specs
Processor:3rd Generation Intel Core i7-3630QM Processor( 2.40GHz 6MB)
GRaphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX660M 2GB
Memory: 8.0GB PC3-12800 DDR3 SDRAM 1600 MHz
Network card: Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2200BGN
But im not computer/tech savy, so im unsure of what it really means in terms of video editing or rendering and how much better it would be compared to my current laptop.
